Extended family: Has this ever happened to you?

I was at my Grandfathers this weekend when some extended family came by. I found out later it was my Great Aunt & Uncle along with some distant cousins.

Well I got the classic line from one of them ''Do you remember who I am ?'' I had no clue, so I just stood there in awkward silence until someone else came over.Why do people do this for?!

Another one was '' Wow you sure have gotten bigger''. Well duh, The last time I saw you was 25 years ago and I was 11. I certainly hope I`ve grown since then! I wanted to say ''Well haven`t you gotten fatter & balder over these years .

Just curious to see if anyone has had this happened to them?

Actually... not quite but close.

When my grandmother was very ill and wasn't expected to last... the family had an early Christmas... there were only 4 in the entire family who couldn't attend. I was among those 4.
After my mother got back from Michigan... she popped in a video tape that had been made during the "Christmas" reunion.
I had not seen my cousins since they were kids... heck Scott, Darrin and me used to go fishing all the time. They also had a sister Danielle. These were among just some of the cousins filmed at that time.
I had to ask several times... "Who's that?" Upon finding out that those two handsome adult men were my little cousins... well... lets put it this way... I could have stood right next to them in a slow moving line at a grocery store and never recognized them.
Had I gone to that reunion Flock... there is no doubt in my mind that I would have had the same experience you had.
