This is a WinRAR self-extracting archive. WinRAR is downloadable for free from www.win-rar.com although this is an evaluation version. The real deal cost 29 bucks. I'm pretty sure it can be installed even if you don't have admin privileges on your PC.

Instructions:
  1. Download the four .rar files, saving them to a common folder
  2. Change the extension of the first file only from .rar to .exe
  3. Double click on the first file (the one now ending in .exe).
  4. Select the destination folder. The default value is the current folder.
  5. Click the "Install" button to reintegrate the parts into one composite file.
Let me know if it works or not. Comments are always welcome.

I was wondering how a 30 second clip could be over 5 megs though and then I saw that it was mpeg! How come you didn't convert it to rm or wmv or something smaller?

Please can soneone convert this ot rm or wmv - I must be thick but I just cannot get the hang of this winrar thing so miss out on all clips posted like that or in hacha and I enjoy f/m - many thanks
 
WinRAR should work fine as long as you have the WinRAR program installed. Otherwise even self extracting RAR archives won't work. I find it simplest to go into Windows Explorer (or whatever Macs have), right click on one of the pieces, and if WinRAR is installed there will be an option there called "extract here". File should magically appear.
But that's beside the point. 🙂 I'd be happy to convert it for you...I just need to install the program I have that can handle MPEGS (for some reason Vegas 4 cant do it!)! 🙂
 
on the heels of T-mad, I gotta say all the downloads are getting complicated. Hacha didn't work for me. Winrar.....and about 4 other types of programs being mentioned........whatever happened to rm and mpg!?!

I'm not complaining. For those computer savvy folks, enjoy! But all the programs are giving me a headache! 🙂

I know it probably seems like we're deliberately making things difficult, but there is a reason for the Hacha and WinRAR files. There is a size limit, when posting video clips. Many of the older clips are small enough to meet this size restriction but now days most of the clips out there are considerably larger than that which this forum can allow.

Hacha and WinRAR are both tools by which we can split a larger file into smaller fragments that don't exceed the size limitations. This requires the downloader to re-assemble the fragments back into the original file. Think of it this way. You want to send a loaf of bread to somebody but the loaf won't fit through the mail slot. So you take a knife to it and slice it up and send one slice at a time. Then, the recipient reassembles the slices back into the loaf. Crude analogy but it might help understand what we're doing here. Hacha and WinRAR are good things, because they allow us to share clips that normally will not "fit through the slot."

To expand on it a bit...those who do not want to reasemble the loaf can always just stick with eating their bread by the slice. It wont stop people from posting just as many smaller slices of bread...but it just gives a few more options to those who want the whole loaf...
Okay..now I'M confused. 😛
 
Rar is one thing... because you'd have to have it to even watch it part by part.

hacha leaves them in mpg format but i've had a lot of problems with that too where one part of it will work, but 2 others won't open.
 
i gotta tell u, I just now downloaded winrar, and it's so easy to use. I just saved the 4 files, and then clicked on the first one, and it opened it to an mpg file. and it played perfectly. actually, I didn't even have to rename it to exe. hacha is quite easy too, but winrar is a lot faster. just like winzip. I just hope it won't start giving trouble after the 40 days evaluation period. does anyone have this program more than 40 days?

I think Ive had it more than 40 days but Im not sure. Still works anyway.
