Fantasy football Keeper advice....

Hello folks,

Since we have a lot of fantasy football fans out there, I would like to see what you guys think of my keeper list and I need some advice as well. There is a group of guys at my job that are part of a fantasy football league. We have been running this league since 2003 and it is a keeper league. In other words, out of 15 Yahoo football roster spots, we keep 7 going into the next year. It's like we're owners and we have a nucleus that we carry year in, year out. Loads of fun. Oh by the way, I am a TWO TIME champion! I won in 2006 and 2008. I am currently the defending champion. Oh yeah, we even bought ourselves a trophy. Ask Bellystrokes what it looks like. I sent her pics of it before! lol...

Anyway, we are about to have our league meeting where we will turn in our keepers. This year, we may keep 8. I am debating who should be my 8th keeper, so I want to reach out to you folks to see what I should do. Here is my roster from 2008

RB Adrian Peterson
RB Maurice Jones-Drew
RB Michael Turner
RB Leon Washington
WR Reggie Wayne

Damn good team huh?

Here is my planned keeper list. There are 7 guys for sure I'm going to keep:

QB Peyton Manning
RB Adrian Peterson
RB Maurice Jones-Drew
RB Michael Turner
WR Reggie Wayne
WR Greg Jennings
TE Jason Witten

Who should be the 8th? I am debating between WR Eddie Royal and QB Matt Ryan. Or is there someone else I should keep as the 8th? Thoughts please....

At least I don't see an "Eli" on that list. I think I am going to steal these players for my tmf team this year. I totally sucked last year. Oh well.

BTW, can you resend the pictures---long story, but had a computer crash, etc etc a while ago. And I love you reading poetry to the dear trophy.

First off I think keeping Jones-Drew is iffy. Jacksonville will have a rough season next year and though Drew seemingly is good for about 800 rush/600 rec/10-12 TD's, there is a chance of a let down this year. I would look at trading possibly and keeping a good second QB. You also do not know how Payton will react this year, and Ryan would be a great choice. If you get 8 players as a keeper then you could keep both. But if it came down to it, I would keep Ryan over Jones-Drew. But it would also be hard not to have or want Warner after the year he had last year. So it would be hard for me to determine between those two.

Thanks for the responses. I am leaning towards keeping Eddie Royal. The reason why is due to maximizing my team's point possibilities. With 3 good WRs, an elite TE and I can start 2 great RBs, they may pick up the slack for Peyton Manning's predicted lack of production for the 2009 season.

Which is why I am still thinking about Ryan. The Colts have some serious issues, but after having Peyton on my keeper fantasy team since 2003, I had to build around him. Before, I heavily relied on Peyton. But with the squad I have now, I should still be able to contend. It really is a tough decision. I could use Ryan for trade bait though. But there is also a possibility I could re-draft him when we do draft. If we keep 8 guys, our draft will be 7 rounds.

Hey Rob, the reason why I am keeping Mo Drew is because he is productive. I think Jacksonville will have a really good year. Why? It's an odd year. Notice the Jags have been really good in the odd years, underachieve in the even years. Plus, my 2 starting RBs will be Peterson and Turner, Mo Drew makes a real nice backup.

Fantasy football....man, do I ever enjoy it. I think I will be a part of the TMF league this year. Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun....

gonna sound crazy but id keep ryan over manning, manning is getting up there and got a new o line coach, a new o coordinator, a new head coach and lost marvin. Then i would for sure keep leon washington he is a playmaker who is getting better and better, and without a established qb they will use him a lot, plus he returns punts and kicks
