This is kindova goofy request, but does anybody know the name of the character on the old Fat Albert cartoon who's hat covered practically his entire face?

Also, I wonder why Hollywood hasn't done a live-action remake of this classic `toon. I bet it could actually be pretty good(if done right).

P.S.--This should be post#200 for me! Whoopie!😀

Can't beleive I remember this but I'm pretty sure it's Donald or Ronald.

Hey Hey Hey...

Damn, sceej56, I believe you're right! I think it was Donald. I wonder what actors they'd get to play all the different characters if they did decide to make a live-action movie of the `toon? There's a guy I work with who'd be perfect as Donald. He wears his hat so low, I dunno how he sees at all!

Anyway, tip-o-the-Kobb-hat to ya' for the help!🙂

I remember vaguely an SNL episode where they spoofed the Fat Albert show. It was hysterical watching them re-enact the character's looks and voices. But I can't remember who the host was.....ARGH!

Methinks South Park parodied it too, calling him Fat Abbott.

"Hey hey hey, what's goin' on, y'all?"

That character was Dumb Donald.

Many, MANY people of color **loathed** that cartoon, and it would be difficult to make a movie that was true to the '70's feel without causing a serious uproar. I'm still not sure how I feel; I admit that while I loved the show as a child I'm not in favor a a movie, this is a different time.

There is already a movie in the works

Yea, it has been in talks for a little over a year. I think the only thing holding it up is a descent script, but I have definitely read about a live-action Fat Albert more than once.

I always liked the show; but I can see why it may have not been found favorable by the african american crowd. But like bella said, not that this is an excuse, but the times were different duirng the time the cartoon ran.

Let me say again that I thought the show was HILARIOUS and I still do; I intend to buy the set of DVDs from Time-Life. And I know a movie would make decent $$, people will go for the nostalgia if nothing else. BUT, they'll have to avoid a lot of what the show funny back then, and that may ruin it. And updated flicks tend to suck (Think Josie and the Pussycats, shudder). Hope it works out.
