Circus just waiting to happen...

http://www.latimes.com/sports/printedition/la-sp-farmer12-2008jul12,0,38150.story

Brett Favre probably will play football this fall, but it won't be for the Green Bay Packers.

It will be for the Baltimore Ravens, or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, or maybe even the hated rival Minnesota Vikings.

Favre asked Friday for his unconditional release from Green Bay and the team's response said it all. Like a bride at the altar with a new husband, the Packers have moved on.

No mention of the Chiefs being a worthy suitor...yet. I wouldn't put anything past Carl "Captain Queeg" Peterson. Favre would be an absolute circus drawing Sheefs (sheep + clueless "chiefs fans") fans to Camarohead Stadium.

Favre is no Joe Montana. Montana did help the 1993 Chiefs sniff the Super Bowl with Marcus Allen's help, but it was brief.

In any case, this is a joke of epic proportions. Stay retired, Fav-rey.

My Ravens have been mentioned as a possible suitor as well. Personally, I'd prefer we stay away from Favre. We need to get younger in a bad way. Brett, himself, may want to stay away from here anyway. With the retirement of Jonathan Ogden, our offensive line is extremely suspect. Sadly, it was suspect even when he was here.

Just heard this about the Brett Farve saga, the Packers GM Ted Thompson said no to releasing him from his contract in Green Bay.

Now in all this, if I was Aaron Rogers, I would go into the Office of management and demand to be released from the Packers if Brett Farve goes back to Green Bay which is a real possiblity.

Aaron Rogers has been jerked around long enough in Green Bay, and don't tell me he has no right to complain because he hasn't earned anything or proved himself, he hasn't had the chance with Farve still able to play. The Packers and Brett Farve go round and round like this as Farve career winds down and if I was Aaron Rogers, I'd say enough is enough, release me.

There are other teams that need a quarterback with his talent and that would love to have him under center for them next year.

Packers, you want to do the right thing, either stick to your guns and say Aaron Rogers is the man for next year and release Farve out right, or bring Favre back, release Rogers and work with Chris Brohm for the next two or three years.

i really respect brett favre and everything but he has to just stay retired. hes a hall of famer won a super bowl and has like every qb record ever. he has nothing left to prove. the only thing that will happen is that he will get hurt if he comes back.

I know nothing about football or sports in general, but was this really a surprise that he would come back?

Favre has been coming and going.

Or at least talking about it a lot.

This phases me not.

I really hate Favre. I knew this BS would end up happening. This retirement saga has been the most annoying sports story for the last 4 or 5 years. The only good that can come of his return is the ass-whoopin' that America's Team would put on him come Sept. 21.

If he were to play for a team other than the Packers, I guess it should be the Falcons. I have a feeling Mike Smith might be more inclined to put him on the team than Jerry Glanville was...
