Sorry if this has been addressed in this forum before...I'm a n00bie, and I did a search on what I thought might be key words, but nothing turned up.
To you 'lers out there: how do you clean the feathers you use? Most of the popular tickling spots on the body are also the ones that carry the most bacteria: the feet, the armpits, and of course the ano-genital area (sorry if that sounds kinda clinical, but I guess it's meant to, at least subconsciously).
Obviously, you can avoid bringing nastiness from, say, the anus to the "kitty" by keeping extra feathers on hand, and switching to a new one when you move "north." Same deal if you've got more than one 'lee stretched out before you and you need to alternate between/among them. And it seems like most experienced 'lers do keep a good supply of feathers on hand.
Between sessions, however, do you just throw out the used feathers and get new ones? (Some of those feathers probably cost more than others, yes?) Or do you clean or otherwise sterilize them? And if the latter, how do you do so without ruining them?
Or...<shudder> do you just re-use them?
Sorry if I sound like I'm one of those obsessive hand-washing types -- believe me, I'm not, but I can see that last scenario leading to yeast and other unwelcome infections.
Thanks in advance! 🙂
