Featherfingers,
I have noticed that you and I have an interest in practicing reflexology in common. I have been studying it since 9th grade. I took it up because of my love for feet and tickling, but actually find it to be a legitimately fascinating form of treatment as well. Anyway, I know that you and I must both have great stories about times that we have practiced reflexology on people. Let's give the group a treat and trade them back and forth. By the way, I'm not official or anything, I just serve friends and some others that I can convince to let me practice on them.
I'll start it off with a short story about my first patient:
When I was in 9th grade, our next door neighbor, Diane, was a stay at hom mom. She was probably 27 or so at the time. I used to go to their house when I forgot my keys or something so they were used to having me around. I finally checked out a reflexology book at the public library. I then got up the guts to ask Diane if she would help me practice. She asked me what I needed her to do and I said, "I just need your feet." Her feet were about a size 6 or smaller (she was only about 5'1"). Her toes were really short and she wore no nailpolish at that time.
Then I started with the now time tested technique that I've used to incorporate tickling into reflexology into tickling for almost 20 years now. I explained to her that I would stimulate the soles of her feet with the tips of my thumbs and that the places where her feet were most sensitive were where I would begin pressing on the pressure points. I held her little foot on my lap and slowly stroked my thumbs upward from her hells to her toes. She got a big smile on her face and was obviously trying not to break. I was very nervous and just kept slowly tickling.
I didn't develop the second technique of telling the patient that limiting their natural reaction only prevented the natural stress relief from working. This move caused many future patients, including Diane, to open up and laugh freely as I stroked their feet. During this first ever session, Diane did a lot of squirming and saying that it tickled, but only laughed out loud a couple of times. I probably had 30 more sessions with her until I went off to college and she eventually would display a great laugh to go along with that smile.
I got most of the female neighbors, two female teachers of mine, and many fellow students at college and law school. I'll trade stories with you as long as you want. I wish I could still do it, but my wife knows what tickling actually means to me and would not be happy with me tickling other women. THat means I could only do it in the rare case where I would be guaranteed that she would never find out.
