It's not terrible, but not amazing, either. The storyline is fun as hell, and I love it, but there's not enough of it. The gameplay is basically, do 8 battle quests, or 8 crafting quests, per 36 hours server time (which is the same for everyone, so if it resets and you do all your quests 34 hours after, you only have to wait 2 hours for them to reset so you can do more), otherwise, you just grind on mobs, or crafting, or search every person's bazaar that you come by to see if they have a piece of gear or crafting material that you might wanna buy.
The world design is amazing, though to a degree. The environment can get boring after a while, but the city area's are well made. Anyway, there's a bit of exploring you can do as well, if you just wanna wander around.
Right now, I'm experiencing lag and getting kicked off the game a lot due to "an error with the game server", and if you get booted or disconnected during those limited quests you have, you actually lose them, so not a fun time. 🙁
It's kept my interest for a couple weeks so far... but not sure how much longer.
EDIT: Also, Fithyweasel is right, they have a similar menu system to FFXI, although a bit better. Unfortunately, the UI is pretty laggy as well, so sometimes it can take a while to get simple things done.
Just so you know, if FFXI weren't so top heavy now, and out for so long, didn't have the experience loss/level down from death, and a shitty billing system it would be 100% better of a game than FFXIV
