I'd say, firecrackers are the best. For those things are truely in the spirit of the ancient chinese meaning of fireworks: to scare off evil spirits for the coming year.
 
Nothing wrong with fireworks, but I'd rather people go see them at public displays than have them go off in my neighborhood. :sowrong: Just my opinion. Happy New Year, Sadistictickler! 🙂
