Foot phobia, WTF ?

Today after an exam i was sitting next to a classmate of mine, well she was wearing sandals, my hands were near her feet, one thing let to another and i just grabbed one of her toes and said "heh ur toes are cute" and kinda tickled her, i know her very well shes a close friend so its not like it was awkawrd nor anything, but then she jumped, and stared at me with terror in her eyes, and said " Oh my god ! dont touch my feet i hate when people touch my feet!" she then apologized for her violent reaction and explained shes just didnt let anyone touch her feet, i asked her if she didnt like the feeling of being tickled and she said she actually liked being tickled, just that she had some kind of "foot touching fobia". After this incident i realized this is kind of a common issue amongst girls (well i say girls cuz i dont go touching guys feet lol). I met a lot of girls who dont like having their feet touched, and its not necesarily cuz they dont like being tickled,a former girlfriend of mine hated having her feet touched, but after a long relationship with me, well she got used to it hehe and ended up even enjoying it, but once i hooked up with a girl that didnt let me get even near her feet. So, i know a lot of girls like that, and it makes me wonder what is the cause of this strange behavior ? i mean is just another part of your body isnt it ? is like touching a hand, a shoulder,a head, i dont know...
I just find it quite interesting, what would be the reason for this fobia ?
Do u know people with this kind of foot fobia ?

Ive heard it before too. But not from a gf or anything. But i know a gall who hates her feet touched, and she said it pretty stupidly too. Her hatred of feet meant she had a foot fetish by her definition. I was like....ILL show you a foot fetish. In all honesty though, it may partially be to do with the idea of feet. I mean if you really think about it outside of your fetish, you can see how some may see them as...less than appealing. Although this doesn't say anything about a phobia of it, but then girls are weird like that anyway. XD

Ya I know a few young women who are self-conscious about their own feet to the point where they consider feet to be all kinds of unclean, unholy, untouchable etc. so touching them there would naturally make them feel very uncomfortable and exposed. So it's a personal thing; but depending on where your friend is from, it could also be cultural...

Yet, I don't think it's a majority who deems feet as the ugliest part of the human body. Most people just aren't interested in them, erotically. It's no big deal for us, as it still isn't hard to find significant others who don't mind our passion.

Before I met my ler, and she was able to teach me to be comfortable with my fetishes, and with my body, I NEVER let people touch my feet unless I was too intoxicated to protest. In college, I rarely let anyone see my feet, let alone touch them.
