football and baseball what about a nascar thread?

i havent seen any nascar threads. so i thought i would start one now. any fans of nascar on this forum? i love it i started watching right after dale srs death to see how they would handle the situation and got hooked. before that time i had thought how silly it was for a car to race round and round a race track and especially to watch it on tv. i used to think how boring. then i started liking the different colors of cars, then finally the drivers. so how many think nascar is a sport? thats a debatable issue with some. i feel it is myself. it takes much endurance to ride that many miles in about four hours.
and something else i always wondered, how do they use the bathroom? lol
as i am creating this thread, carl edwards has just won the texas race, doing his famous backflip from the car after he won. but dang he beat my fav, mark martin right at the end. grrrrr

anyway mark martin is my favorite , followed by jimmy johnson, jeremy mayfield, bobby labonte, dale jarrett and dale jr. hope people respond to this thread and either agree or disagree as to it being a sport and also naming their favorite and if you agree with the new rules that only the top ten in points by the end of september i think (and correct me if i'm wrong) are in competition for the cup.

ps i have a good friend called oldhippy who calls these new drivers yuppy drivers, and say the racing isnt like it used to be. also i for one do not watch for the wrecks as nascar watchers are accused of doing.

Don't bother, Izzybooter. I've been more or less a closet NASCAR fan on these forums for 4 years now, because there are so few fans of racing in the tickling community, and everyone who's NOT a fan can not wait to jump on the bandwagon and harass those who DO enjoy it. I've never seen any other sport in which one is so mocked for being a fan of. Even wrestling doesn't get as bad of a rap.

So just take comfort in the fact you do have at least one fellow fan (well, 2....another lady on the forum is a NASCAR fan too) here and pick another topic to discuss where you won't be shamed so much. I learned my lesson the hard way too.

OK - have to chime in here

Nascar is the number one, absolute best sport of all time. Carl Edwards is a serious up and comer- he also won in Atlanta last week and to be in the Chase for the Championship in what is essentially his rookie season, plus win THREE Nextel Cup races (so far) is astounding. This boy will go far and he drives like the old time racers. Isabeau- Nascar is my passion (tied with tickling, I suppose) and I'll answer anything you want to know.

My number one driver is Tony Stewart who looks good to win the Championship this year. Second to Tony is Carl Edwards. I have absolutely no use for Jeff Gordon or Jimmie Johnson, but both are decent drivers, though definitely of the "new school" rather than the old.

My darling ler friend who I met right here on this forum found it amusing to make me say "Tony Stewart sucks" while he tickled the crap out of me earlier this summer. I am saddened that I gave up Tony and it will NEVER happen again (hear that, you miserable 'ler? NEVER AGAIN)

Your question about the championshop- the top ten drivers in points after the first 26 races of the year compete for the championship throughout the final 10 races. This has been in effect for the past two years and so far has been great for viewership. It's the new Nascar, which has turned into a big money sport and now has to keep the fans happy. True fans do NOT like wrecks- a yellow flag slows things down and is boring. Big wrecks that bring out the red flag can kill the fun mighty fast.

Dale Sr. was the MAN- I carry his number on my bottle opening keychain at all times- just a red neck woman at heart, I guess. Dale Jr. is not his daddy, but is a fine driver.

Sorry Isa...I just dont consider racing to be a sport as such...it does require great skill, but I find it extremely boring to watch cars spinning around a track endlessly........

i think its pretty clear that nascar isnt too popular when sports analyts and writers make fun of it. people complain to around the horn on espn about the lack of nascar coverage and they respond with what everyone else thinkis...its boring...it has it following but it'll never be as popular as the nfl, nba, or mlb...the nhl and nascar are about on the same interest level
