I've been a rabid Washington Redskins fan for three decades. I grew up in a true blue Giants household...I figured a really good way to piss my parents off was to root for the team they hated the most. Instead, I dove happily into the burgundy pool, and made it my identity, and was rewarded with five trips to the Super Bowl. Lately, however, watching them when I can catch them is about as enjoyable as taking a leaf blower and ramming it up my ass.
I'm not a big college fan...but I do pull for the Sooners. You see, the team I hate- Notre Dame- always makes a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig freakin' deal over their heritage and their tradition, like they're the only college team that has one. Well, Oklahoma has a great heritage and tradition, too. In fact, during the height of that tradition, they once won forty five consecutive games. THAT never happened in South Bend.
By the way- never once did I ever regret not taking up with my family's favorite team. Not once. Ever.
