.......todays Daily Telegraph shows pictures of British war graves in france dessicrated and vandalised with anti war graffiti. That just about puts the tin hat on it for me, all those Brits who died getting their country back for them, and this is what they think of us. I wish I really DID have a mark nine Spitfire to strap in to, so I could strafe the bloody Iffel tower.

it`s a shame bush hadn`t targetted france,lol,even the peaceniks would`ve walked away from that one!! 😀

Taking sides...

A line will soon be crossed that may indeed be irrevocable between some former allies. We'll survive...they think they will. :sowrong: Q

We should not condemn an entire country and its citizens because of the despicable actions of a few idiots.

I'm sure not all French are against us. Just the ones that the news show us.

Unfortuantely I heard that a poll conducted said 2/3 of the french were routing for Saddam to win. Only 58% of the Russians were routing for Saddam to win. Does this make Russia a better ally now than France?

According to the poll I read, it's only 1/3 of the French who favor victory for the guy who likes to watch people get raped to death on slow afternoons the way I like to watch Doctor Who reruns. Still, a telling figure nonetheless.

But really, can you blame them? After all the jabs directed their way lately about their military ineptitude, their pride demanded a display of their martial prowess and they went looking for a fight. It's not their fault that the only opponents that they could actually beat were people who had already been dead for over fifty years...

I did not that my opinion of the French could go lower. Desecrating the graves of soldiers who fought for France's freedom when it was occupied by the Nazis, however, does bring a new low. Truly disgusting.

Yeah... it sucked...

But hey, it wasn't the will of EVERYONE in France, just a few dipshits. Did anyone actually read that the graffiti was pro Saddam? It basically said that Saddam was all powerful and that he'd "make America bleed".

If anything, it's as much an attack on France as it is on America...

Oh, and the French DON'T hate America! They just don't want anything to do with this bullshit war. Neither does anyone in England who isn't in the military, because we see through Bush's crap.

Comes to something when you hate an entire culture just because they don't agree with you on something. But hey, maybe you can do what you're doing in the Middle East and bomb the crap out of them until they follow everything you say.

Oh wait, that's facism...

This war still really upsets me. Don't get me wrong, I prefer a lot of things about the US than the UK, I really do. But bullying smaller, weaker countries is just wrong. And... I bet you anything they won't catch Saddam. Just like they didn't catch Bin Laden.

Sorry, I've had a bad day.:dropatear

Using this article as proof that France as a country hates anyone is just absurd. Hey, I'm sure some U.S. frat boys have scribbled a swastica on some building somewhere at some time. Can I conclude from this that the U.S. is a) Full of Nazis and b) hates Isreal? Methinks not. This article is just another populist attempt to divert public opinion from the fact that people opposed to the war might have a point. Bringing feelings to a boil (OMG!!! THEY ARE DESECRATING OUR DEAD PEOPLE!!!) does a good job of keeping the public's view of a souvereign country and a former valuable ally of the U.S. at the point that it's best suited to support the war: If France is compromised of U.S.- and Britain-o-phobes, then that means conclusively that their views on any subject are born out of spite and not logic or any other reason. Congratulations on pulling a primary school tactic. Ringing around the kid picked out as "most unpopular" and throwing verbal feces his way is a good way to pull together and stand strong.

This world really needs to grow up.

Thanks for that Maruader............

........do you plan a translation of that post in to English? so what level of schooling accounts for spraying swasticas on war graves? I dont doubt people have valid arguments against the war, but to suggest my thread is a deliberate attempt to divert attention from anti war arguments is rather convoluted, surley the act of cowardly vandalism described is more responsible for that potential outcome? how can that act make anyone feel sympathy for their views?

Thats the best i can do with your post, I will have to wait for the de-crypt from Bletchley park before futher comment.

*screech* go the brakes.

Nope, I didn't mean to call your post an attempt to (whatever). I was refering to the article itself. The one in the Daily Telegraph? You know, the one that'll have all the good men and women of Britain screaming at the top of their lungs at the sheer atrocity, the WAR CRIME, of some french teens on a drunken binge spraying stuff on headstones in a monumentous display of stupidity and futile xenophobia. The article that will strengthen anti-french sentiments because A FEW PEOPLE in france decided to pull a stunt most asinine. The article that will thusly be useful to show the good women and men of Britain that the french, indeed, do hate you so. So much that they turn to a weak simulacrum of necromancy to destroy your spirits.

Um, for translation of my post into English, why not try Babel-Fishing it? I translated it from English to German and back to English, here's the result:
This article as proof to use, which France hates everyone as country, straight is absurd. I am sure of Hey that some United States frat boys scribbled swastica on something buildings somewhere sometime have. Can I determine B) Isreal from this that the United States A) from Nazis am full and hate? Methinks not. This article is another people attempt to reroute public opinion of the fact just that the people, which became opposite the war could have one point. Feelings to cook get (OMG!!! THEY ARE DESECRATING OUR DEAD PEOPLE!!!) settles a good work of holding the opinion of the public one souvereign country and the former valuable allied one of the United States at the point that it is well corresponded, in order to support the war: If France is compared by United States - and of Great Britain o phobes, then this means locking that their opinions over each possible topic from Bosheit and not logic or any other reason are carried. Congratulations on pulling a primary school tactics. Ringing around the kid, which is selected its way as "most unpopular" and throwing verbal arrears, is a good way to pull and strongly stand together. This world must really grow up.

Easy does it...

We're getting a bit far afield here gents. I think the basic problem is that the French government has created a "climate" wherein acts like these become more socially acceptable and likely. Marauders comparision to a swastika defamation falls short, in that nearly the ENTIRE population of the USA would condemn such an act. The impression articles on this subject gives is that no such universal revulsion is apparent within France...much the opposite actually. Good point though as to the history of allies and this being a "bump" in the larger scheme of world history. Q
