For better or worse fans out there?

Yes I Love This One

One of the best cartoons out there. In my opinion the only better ones currently in print are Foxtrot, Dilbert, and Get Fuzzy.

I USED to like it..till most of the family(and some of the other characters) started becoming assholes and/or idiots.

For example, John lying to April about moving. Oh no, they're not moving..they're just discussing WHAT IF they bought the other house.

Or how about Elly yelling at EVERY FREAKIN THING that ticks her off, even though alot of times she brings it on herself (don't offer her your car if she's bitching about having to scrape the ice of hers--even though she's the one who doesn't have to work. You'll just get this answer: "NO, OKAY?! NO, NO, NO AND NO!" )

About the only sane, non-asshole person left in that strip is Jim (and sometimes April, although sometimes she makes dumb decisions..but, then again, she's a teen lol)

Well Yeah

Yeah Elly yells, she's supposed to be portraying a real woman with real woman stresses. The story line I'm getting tired of is the Stroke thing with Ellie's father. It has no point.

On the other hand, let's face it, a Family cartoon with a character named Weed is just awesome.

I forgot, Pooch Cafe' is a great cartoon too.

I have always loved this strip. What separates it from others is the linear flow of the characters and the lives they live. These people grow and we get to see the changes in them throughout the years. Let's face it, how long has Charlie Brown been 10?

I also like the fact that Lynn tackles the real challenges of life. As to the characters becoming "assholes", they're real people who often make poor choices. Just like the rest of us. What's important is that there's usually some consequence for those actions. The strip is also not afriad to tackle tragedy. Years ago, when the family dog died trying to rescue one of the children, I knew that this strip was going to stick with me.

True there might be some consquences, but nothing that really seems to have caused them to change/learn.

. Eg: Liz asks Paul to transfer twice, still sees Warren, then is suprised when Paul cheats on her. Oh well that's okay, it was fate that made it happen! And she made Paul up, anyway(at least that one woman had the guts to tell Liz she was at just as much fault, too. Still, the "he's a northerner, you're not, you weren't meant to be together" stuff she added was dumb. ) .

Or how about Anthony letting Howard go....after that guy attempted to RAPE Liz? If someone like my sister or one of my friends was nearly raped and I let the guy go, after I had him pinned down, I'd hear something like "WHY THE F*** DID YOU LET HIM GO, YOU DUMBASS!? He tried to RAPE me!The police could've had his ass by now!" but nope, Anthony gets..at the end of the trial "Thanks..for everything"

I agree though that the stroke storyline's getting annoying. What's worse is that most of the time the ton of the s strips involving it seem like "HAHA...disabled people suffering is FUNNY!"

As for the aging thing...I seem to remember reading a few days ago that Lynn was gonna freeze their ages . But then again who knows if that'll actually happen. After all, she was also gonna retire...then not retire, and do a hybrid with the old style drawings with new strips thrown in..

.Now it's supposedly gonna be new strips drawn in the old style, with their ages frozen....to...avoid confusing readers? :idunno: 😕

I still enjoy the strips where April visits Jim, though. (those are usally pretty good, and sometimes touching....at least the ones without the dumb word puns. lol)

Whoops, I forgot about Weed. He's cool, too. And don't forget his/Mike's naked doll/action figure thingie: Ned! :jester: (naked dolls in family strips...now THAT's funny! lol)

Well

Liz is a woman in her early 20s, many women at that age do exactly what she is doing with regards to men. I particularly like that she changed careers or employers a couple times as young people tend to do that.

I also liked that Anthony did the right thing. Trust me, we'd all feel the same rage he did but the message that was sent by him walking away was a good one and let's face it, very few of us would act on that rage.

I like Dave became a big fan when the Dog died saving the kid.

I also like that this strip will tackle controversial issues in a manner that isn't preachy and often humorous.

I love the strip. Along with "Arlo and Janis, it's pretty much the only cartoon strips I read anymore.

True, its just a shame that she has decided to stop the real time format of her strip, though I do understand the reason for that too.
