...that the last operational flight of Spitfires in RAF roundels was on the Queen's Birthday 1955? The last unit to fly them was the Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force. You can download .wav and .rm sound files of Spitfire fly-by's on their web site:

The files play for about 12 seconds. I have both. Sometimes, to annoy my wife, I'll start the .rm on RealPlayer, then the .wav on Windows MediaPlayer 6 sec later, then repeat the .rm 6 sec later, then .wav, etc. Both applications will play at the same time. Sounds like an air raid.

Thanks for that info I will be looking in to its veracity. I love the trick with the sound clips I am looking forward to getting that clever on puters myself! but alass I have so far been unable to download R.P. and make it work. I would love to create my own Spitfire air raid in the comfort of my own home...an old saying springs to mind as I write, something about the devil and idle hands?

german gunners were well known for exaggerating their number of "kills" (in order to avoid being sent to the russian front) and this is another bogus claim! Red Indian continues on patrol with slight damage to aileron. Nose art is a night match at the "Baseball Ground"
