Today will be the 3rd Father's Day that I've spent with my dad which I'll be able to remember. He's been sober for a little over three years and it is because of his sobriety that we are able to now have a relationship. I went with him to an AA meeting and it was great. We just got some lunch and later tonight we'll be going to a comedy club or a movie. 🙂

My sentiments exactly. I lost my grandfather, who was like a father to me, earlier this year.
That is awesome, and I wish him the best of luck with it.

He was 78, but I didn't think of him as "old" because his mind was so sharp.

I am sorry to hear about your Father.... I lost mine on Valentines Day of this year. And I fully agree with you saying "Treasure them (and their faults) while they are still around". Great advice for anybody who is still lucky enough(even if they don't realize it) to have their Fathers around!

I am sorry to hear about your father as well. You never realize just how much someone means to you until they are gone, and thats a shame.
