Former long time New York Knicks player Charles Oakley was arrested at Madison Square Garden in New York City tonight.

Supposedly, Oakley was shouting obscene language at NY Knicks Chairman James Dolan.

Oakley failed to cease his behavior. He then got into a shoving match with Garden Security, and was escorted out of the building.

While basketball fans, and Knicks fans are aware that the current season has been a disappointing one for the Knicks..

This is a regrettable incident for someone.., who was one of the heroes during the Knicks winning era of the late 1980s and 1990s

Fast forward twenty years and it'll be Melo screaming a few things less SFW than "You bad guy!" at Phil Jackson, in whatever capacity the latter is with the Knicks/MSG. Should it happen, it won't diminish in the least Anthony's god-like status up here in 'Cuse Nation (they'll probably have already named the Carrier Dome's replacement after him; was gonna have One-Thousand-Asterisk Boeheim's name all over it, until...).

I didn't even know about it. I saw that one of my friends was discussing it online, and was able to find it.

There was an interview posted last night.

In the interview, a reporter asked Oakley for Oakley's version of the incident.

During the interview.. Oakley said : "I didn't do anything to anyone".

Which seems to be a blatant lie, if one watches the tape of the incident.

Oakley claims that he has been with odds with Knicks owner James Dolan, , and that Dolan doesn't like Oakley.

Oakley also said that he has been basically shunned by the Knicks.

Oakley claims that he has offered to sit down with Dolan, and resolve their differences, but that Dolan has refused.

I'm sorry to say.. but.

I've watched the tape of the altercation a couple of times.

It is clear that Oakley basically physically assaulted the security personnel who were asked to deal with the situation.

I didn't see any pictures of Oakley screaming obscenities, but after watching the tape of the physical altercation between Oakley and MSG security, I'm definitely inclined to believe the the MSG people's side, and not Oakley's

It was stated that Knicks owner James Dolan fired the MSG security chief this morning.

The story stated that the firing came as a "Result of the fallout from the incident".

In addition to the incident itself, the situation has caused extremely negative publicity for the Knicks.

This move does not surprise me.
