This is just a warning to all members to ignore and delete all e-mails with attachments from an "@tickletheater.com" address. I have received an e-mail recently from [email protected], but that address does not even exist.

It's obvious that the e-mails are being forged to look like they are from us when they are not. I am not 100% sure what the attachments contain, but I know it set my Norton off and it cleaned it automatically.

Here is an example of a phony e-mail. Remember these are not from us!

Dear user of Tickletheater.com gateway e-mail server,

Your e-mail account has been temporary disabled because of unauthorized access.

Please, read the attach for further details.

In order to read the attach you have to use the following password: 67470.

Sincerely,
The Tickletheater.com team http://www.tickletheater.com

The TickleTheater will never send you an attachment to view of any kind. So if you see an e-mail from an @tickletheater.com address with an attachment simply ignore and delete it!

TT...
I have my own domain also and recently I have been getting the very same email claiming to be from [email protected]. I think that only people who have an @tickletheater.com email address will ever get this. A woman who's website I manage got the same thing.
So it shouldnt be a problem that extends to members of the site, just to those with hosted email (if there are any besides you). Hopefully anyway 🙂
Always a good idea to ignore ALL attachments, even from people you know, unless you're expecting it. Also a good idea to use web based email because I heard there are some viruses that you dont even have to open...just downloading them will infect you.

It's pretty funny...I got an email that said something about my email being discontinued because of fraudulent use and it was signed "the "mydomain".com team.
Which would of course be...me. 😛

It's a variant of the Beagle worm. It's been around for a month or two now; apparently the gang writing it are having a war with the gang producing Netsky variants. Judging by my account the Netsky variants are much more prolific... as long as everyone has decent anti-virus software installed and kept up to date (and everyone remembers to visit Windows Update too right, or use Automatic Updates [or another OS...]) we should be fine. Unfortunately judging by the spread it appears not everyone is properly secured 🙁

Indeed.....

Yuppers, I had the same problem with my site. Stupid thing was, I actually opened it even though I knew there wasn't a staff address with our company....DDDUUUURRR!!!!

I can't believe that some people would stoop this low to try and damage tickling afiecianados! The nerve!

I don't think they did it to damage the community on purpose.

While counterfeited, the mail seemed "stock", so probably most webmasters received something similar, with THEIR sites as mail subject.

Maybe it was a virus, or an hacking attempt at TT's provider's expenses.

I routinely get megs of virus per month. I don't even check the mails anymore. I just trash them if they look remotely suspicious. 😀

Just to let you know....

It isn't just you that's affected. Even people with Yahoo, AOL, MSN and other such free e-mail addresses are affected as well. I personally recieve 3-6 emails a week from....myself. I have had people actually e-mail me back, saying the don't want to recieve stuff from me anymore, and I have never heard of these people before. Thankfully, yahoo has some serious virus protection on their e-mail system, other wise I would have given up the internet ghost a long time back.
