Granted, maybe this is a .. biased website, but, for baseball fans mulling over whether Fredi Gonzalez should be fired.. check out.

www.firefredi.com.

A poll posted on there, has 92% of the respondents who feel that Fredi should be fired.

I have no particular attachment to Fredi.. If he got fired, I would not be upset. In my view, the Braves had a disappointing season, and a dismal September, after winning an easy NL East title in 2013. Anything that would get the Braves back into contention for a Wild Card spot, or division title, would be fine in my book, including if it meant firing Fredi Gonzalez to do so.

Well the website seems kind of mean spirited, but he has proven to be a very poor manager. I'm not sure he'll get fired though, he seems to have a lot of friends in high places.

I like the idea of hiring Ned Yost, but I'd say his job in Kansas City seems pretty secure for the foreseeable future.

Thanks, Soda.

Since Ned Yost was a long time coach for Bobby Cox, it surprised me a bit that Yost was not Bobby's successor when Bobby retired. I agree with you, that with the Royals success, Yost will probably stay in KC for a while.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Fredi get fired in the off season. Then again, it would be interesting to see who his successor would be.

Another Braves development: Their hitting coach, Greg Walker, resigned today. Supposedly, according to Dave O Brien of the AJC. www.ajc.com. It was said that Walker was supposed to be fired tomorrow, and apparently decided to resign before he was fired.

I'm surprised that Gonzalez still has his job. It remains to be seen how long he will keep it.

It was announced today that Fredi Gonzalez will return as Braves manager in 2015. I don't agree with this decision, considering their September collapse this year, and their sub 500 record. Hopefully they will make some improvements to the team, and contend for at least a wild card next year. If they don't win at least a wild card in 2015, I hope that they then decide to change managers.

Dammit. Let's hope he gets it together and soon

Not to bump this thread.. but.. on the subject of Fredi.

As people who follow such things know, Fredi recently got a contract extension for 2016.

This, in spite of the fact that the Braves have already hit the 90 loss mark for 2015.

The "battle for last place in the NL East has been going on at Turner Field this weekend, and, while Atlanta has won the first two games against the equally dreadful Phillies, and may not finish in last place, the Braves should or will get to 100 losses or very close to it.

I think that the decision to renew Fredi for 2016 was absolutely wrong, but, apparently the Braves feel that he is not the only or main reason for their dismal season in 2015.

If the Braves were going to fire him they would have done so prior to this year. I am no fan of Fredi, as the thread will show, but you can't trade away most of your top players before the season starts and then fire a manager because he didn't win enough games.

The Braves are clearly building for the future (they seem to think they'll be competitive in 2017) so it would be unfair to judge him too harshly based on the wins and losses this year. I feel like they should have parted ways with hime after last season's collapse, but once they signed that extension, the fair thing to do would be to honor it.

I see your point, Soda.

I dont think the Braves will be much better in 2016.

My hope, is that when they move into the new ballpark in 2017, they will be at least competitive.

I see next year as being like.. 1990 for the Braves. When they had players like Glavine, Smoltz, and Justice, who were all young, maturing, and just getting good, and then we all know how close to winning it all they came in 1991, about.. one inning lol.

2016 may be another not so great year for the Braves. But.. after the aura of the new ballpark wears off, it would seem they need to be competitive in 2017, or there will be plenty of empty seats in the new park as well

I'm not a Braves fan but this is what I see from an outside view, They are in full rebuild mode which makes sense considering they had a good offense the last few years and couldn't get out of the first round, change was needed. I think the Braves are playing it very smart right now taking on expiring contracts and getting good prospects in return. They've gone from a power hitting lineup into a more contact heavy lineup which is better because its not all or nothing for them any longer. They are building around Freeman and Simmons who are the franchise cornerstones and they have a lot of young pitching both in the majors and minors. You still have Teheran, Wisler(who looked good last night btw) Miller and others. They have money to spend and have a lot of young talent just waiting to come up. It will be a few years until the Braves are ready to take the East back from either the Nats, or Mets but its a long term project for the Braves and I can't see them being worse then this year for 2016. They are on the rebound and getting better
