I hope this isn't entirely the wrong forum. I realize that this isn't, strictly speaking, a video game ad.
I'm putting together a free-form role-playing campaign with a couple of fellow TMFers, but we need a few more people (we're looking for a total of 6, or thereabouts, and we're hoping to stick with an even number, as well as a 50/50 gender mix). This will be handled via a chatroom in real-time; exactly what medium will be used has not yet been determined, but we're looking into several options, all of them completely free.
This game will be heavily based upon the Dead Space video game series. If you're not familiar, Dead Space is a 26th century science fiction/survival horror continuity wherein an ancient alien device has been found which regenerates the tissue of corpses and constructs living monstrosities from the bodies of the dead. Said monstrosities are programmed, more or less, to procure more raw materials, and are designed to do so efficiently and effectively. Only one marker has been found, but a powerful religious faction, the Church of Unification, has arisen in the centuries since it was first located; under Unification influence, the marker has secretly been duplicated by a clandestine government operation. The Church teaches that the Marker's true purpose is to help unify mankind and ascend the human race to the next level of evolution, but many suspect its true motives as being far more sinister. The Marker aside, the particulars of the universe are fairly grounded in hard, gritty science fiction.
If you are familiar, understand that particular names, organizations, certain events and time-frames, and the particular technological aspects of the universe may be somewhat altered. The game is heavily based on Dead Space, but it's just that--a basis. We're looking to allow a lot more by way of liberty to RP than it would otherwise allow. Part of this falls on the head of the player; in our current, smaller RP, science-fiction details are consistently made up on the spot. We have to keep track of our own (and each other's) ideas, and try to stay on the same page. A good imagination, solid writing skills, and the willingness to both give and to be receptive to a significant level of detail are all requisites for this game. The longest individual post I've seen so far was 14 paragraphs, each to the limit of Yahoo! IM's message size restrictions. Anything less than three such paragraphs is generally considered 'short.' We have a specific format for how in-character posting proceeds, to keep from having multiple people 'speaking' over each other.
At the outset of the game, everybody will be waking up from hypersleep on board the enormous USG Takimoto, a government-owned mining vessel sent to crack open a dead planet and extract its mineral wealth, water, and other useful materials. Unless any players wish otherwise, everyone is assumed to be primarily affiliated with the on-board Security Force, an elite military unit operating in semi-autonomous fashion under a SF Lieutenant who can claim jurisdiction over the ship's civilian captain in matters of ship security. Politics, intrigue, and faction-related conflict will make things interesting... and, ultimately, there's the "necromorphs" to deal with. In our current, smaller role-play, we're having no end of fun 🙂
A word about adult/fetish content: Tickling, and (where desired) other fetish content is an aspect of this game, but not a primary point. There are no "tickle monsters" or "tickle devices" or anything else which would most likely draw a loud WTF? reaction in real life. Our characters have their preferences, which are catered to with as little contrivance as we can manage. Tickling scenes have definitely been a lot of fun, but In our most recent RP, two weeks worth of several-hour-long sessions occurred before there was anything resembling an entanglement... and we were playing every other day, and then some. Sex scenes are explicitly suggestive, but are also "glossed over." The primary point here is for some ongoing, long-term, fairly intense role-playing. If your first thought is "ohhh, necromorphs with tentacles!" we, put bluntly, don't want you 🙂 I've been role-playing, and writing game material, for more than 20 years, and my primary partner-in-crime puts me to shame. Hobby enthusiasts with strong imaginations are eagerly encouraged to express their interest.
If you'd like more information, feel free to message me here or to contact me via e-Mail at my [email protected] address.
EDIT: At this point, we don't have a set time established to meet. If you're interested, it'd be fantastic if you could give us a couple of ideas as to times when you might be available on a weekly basis. The general thought at this point is that we'll have sessions once or twice per week, at least 4 hours per session, with pickup games played by ear.
