After several years, the new generation of characters for DAZ Studio, Genesis 9, has recently been published, and here you can see my first contact.
In principle, and contrary to how it was done until now, there is only one gender-neutral model, which we can modify to turn it into a man or a woman, instead of a model for each of the genders, also, I see that recently the facial hair such as eyebrows and eyelashes tends to be recreated as fibers rather than as a texture, which gives the final result more realism, and I also see that Genesis, by default, is associated with a series of other elements, such as the tears seem to be , which I hope will be a default option so that in the future I can recreate them better than in previous versions, since I personally ended up discarding any official alternative and recreating them myself from scratch, seeing the poor results offered by the specific applications for this.
For now, and being something so new, as you can imagine there is not much specific content created for Genesis 9. In my case, apart from Genesis 9, I have downloaded the Victoria 9 character, which, similar to what happens in previous versions of Genesis, apart from the character itself, comes with the male and female anatomical elements, and as you can imagine, just for this I consider it essential. This character is the one of the red-haired girl, and I was surprised how especially well done the skin texture is, normally any DAZ Studio character has "something" that no matter how realistic it is, it is generally known to be a generated image by computer, but in the case of Victoria 9, it is quite difficult to find the difference with the real skin, as you can see in the images, even the toerprints are perfectly recreated. The girl with darker skin, despite the fact that the texture is quite good, it is not as detailed, and although it has a little more quality, it is more similar to that of the old models, at least in my opinion, I have tried with a third character another skin model, and the same thing happens, it is better than the old models, but not nearly as good as the Victoria 9.
Regarding the rest of the content that we can find for Genesis 9... For now and as I have already said, it is quite limited, both in clothing, hair, postures and expressions. I have downloaded an expression pack that I have been testing throughout the series of images, and otherwise the handling of Genesis 9 is quite similar to Genesis 8, although the names of some joints change and it is complicated to use the G8 poses correctly in G9, for which I have a Script, and still the result is far from perfect. As you can see, the first thing I did to test G9 is to check if I could use the character in the material that I already have created. To achieve this, I had to resize G9, and once the pose was applied, make a few corrections. I'm sure this problem will be corrected soon, but for now, and considering the difficulty of using the poses, clothes, hairstyles and expressions of the old characters in G9, I have seen the options a bit limited.
In short, G9 comes with many changes, greater realism and more possibilities than previous models... But for now, and being something so new, it has a limited number of options for now. I clarify that all this, of course, is only my opinion, we must also take into account that for G8, the model with which I worked until now, a fairly important part of my work, I was able to solve it with the content that I had already downloaded, and now I have to start from 0 with G9.
