My mom had sent me this in an email, I thought it was really cool I had to share it, especially because it only works this year!!!

YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH

This is pretty neat.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!





It takes less than a minute....... Work this out as you read.. Be sure
you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!





1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to
have chocolate. (more than once but less than 10)

















2. Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)




















3. Add 5. (for Sunday)

















4.. Multiply it by 50 ........I'll wait while you get the
calculator.................








5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1755....











If you haven't, add 1754 ......











6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.











You should have a three digit number .








The first digit of this was your original number (i.e., how many times
you want to have chocolate each week).























The next two numbers are .........


















YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)






THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2005) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND
WHILE IT LASTS

How it works:

You pick x, a whole number between 1 and 9 inclusive

>2. Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)

You now have 2x

> Add 5. (for Sunday)

You now have 2x+5

>4.. Multiply it by 50 ........I'll wait while you get the

You now have 100x+250

>5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1755....
>If you haven't, add 1754 ......

You now have 100x+2005 (had birthday) or 100x+2004 (haven't)

>6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

Let y be the year you were born.

You now have 100x+(2005-y), if you've had your birthday.
Note that 2005-y is indeed your age, in the tens and units columns. x sits in the hundreds column.

You now have 100x+(2004-y) if you haven't had your birthday.
Note that 2004-y is indeed your age, in the tens and units columns. x sits in the hundreds column.


PS: If you age is over 99, it then it won't work. 😛

Yes, and after Milagros excellent explanation, I finally understand why I see this every year, dispite the fact that it always says it only works for THIS year. The only difference is where it tells you to add 1755 (or 1754 if your birthday hasn't happened yet.) Each subsequent year this number will increment.

Absolutely correct. So you can post one that works for 2006 on January 1. 😛
