Try deleting your comps internet history and change the web page memory to 24 hours ?

It sounds like your browser is set up to auto complete addresses. It's a neat little thing that saves you having to type out the entire address when you return somewhere. While that feature is cool to revisit sites you go to often, it can be a pain in cases like this. Here's how to disable that...

Up in the top of your browser window, you'll see the word tools and choose Internet Options. Click on that and a window will open with your settings controls. Click on the advanced folder. Once you're in there, scroll down to the browsing section and UNcheck the box that says "use inline auto complete". (It may be worded differently depending on your specific browser. That should take care of the problem.

BTW...welcome to the gang! Good to have you with us. 😉

Hmmmmm.....not sure what to suggest then. Perhaps one of the more tech literate folks will have an idea. Hope all works out for ya!

Hey,
I had the same problem. I use MSN broadband and for me I just go to HELP, SETTINGS, INTERNET OPTIONS, then CLEAR BROWSING HISTORY and that does the trick. It took me a while to figure that one out since I don't use Internet Explorer or Netscape. Hope that helps some.

Inline autocomplete only toggles whether the expanion is "inline" or not - that is, whether it pops up in place as well as being in a list of options.

The option you want is on the Content tab, AutoComplete... button; uncheck "Web addresses". I believe it only autocompletes items from your history, so delete those, and also entries from the typed URLs list - see the arrow to the right of the URL bar, that lets you select recently typed addresses. To remove them just type loads of web addresses you know after visiting to cycle it off the bottom.

Simpler..

It's a useful function, so I prefer to clear them the easy way. When you have the offending website highlighted, just hit the Delete key and it will be gone until you access it again...too easy, right...lol? Don't double click to highlight it though, or of course you'll end up on the site...merely delete and continue down the line to remove the ones you're not comfy with showing up.

Q

I thought delete didn't work for address bar URLs, only form contents? Which OS and browser version are you using? It certainly doesn't work for me with Win XP and IE6 SP1...

Same here...

other than the XP...I run Pro, but in this case there's no difference in choices I believe. Use the keyboard delete key and they disappear for me everytime.

Q

How bizarre! I'm running Pro too. The IE help file backs me up on this one though:
The AutoComplete feature saves previous entries you've made for Web addresses, forms, and passwords. To delete entries from the Address bar, you must clear your History folder. You cannot clear individual entries from the list of saved entries.

1. On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.

2. Click the General tab.

3. Under History, click Clear History.

Notes

When typing information in Web forms, and typing passwords, you can remove an item from the list of suggestions by clicking the item and then pressing the DELETE key.
Are you sure you're not pressing backspace instead of delete, thus possibly removing a vital character and hiding the offending autocompletion amongst many other possible branches?
