The Christian side hug, for the unaware, is the Christian version of the standard “full frontal hug,” which is a sinful abonimation and should be avoided until marriage (I am not actually making this up). The side-hug is preferable because it avoids crotch-touching, which Jesus hated. Apparently the standard hug is now mostly for Jews, Muslims, Socialists and probably Unitarians.

Babbles, I dig the enthusiasm for Jesus. And I much can relate. But I don't think Ru meant a lot of harm. It was gross, yes, and I don't agree with it. But a lot of his friends are very much Christian and I don't think he did that to deliberately cause harm.
 
Babbles, I have nothing against Christians.
I believe, however, that the idea that a full-frontal hug is something which puts my immortal soul in danger of burning in hell for all eternity to be completely ridiculous.

He wasn't insulting anybody. That video, and the concept that a hug is something that should avoided because it would make Jesus angry is... well, it's crazy. Really crazy.

I don't agree with making fun of a person's faith. But, when the practice of that faith becomes so nonsensical that it has little to do with what we claim to believe in, it's time to fire away just to wake us up and get us back on track. Of course, often the impression one on the outside may get is very different from the actual belief.

I'm waiting for my bear hug from Jesus. In the meantime, I'll take them from all the friends He acts through to share His love. And, I imagine He's loving every minute of it.

Sideways hugs...fish hugs....telephone pole hugs...pushmepullyou hugs....BAH! Give me a real hug any day of the week! 😉
