I had a thought, I was wondering if anyone had some ideas on how to help with this. You know how we're always upset how tickling gets an bad rap in the news if it gets any news...usually cause it's linked with fetishism or it's someone doing something innapropriate...I had a thought...there are all of these s tudies out that say "laughter is the best medicine"..what if someone contacted newspapers and tv news/radio about a story about testing the effectiveness on that say, a woman tries to get tickled every day for a month to see what it does and then they follow up with her and interview her, get some interviews with doctors etc about the scientific part...wouldn't that be a good story? I've already emailed some news stations. anyone want to help, or, be the person in their area to do this?

I'm into what I'm into, it's for MY enjoyment alone. Why would I care what kind of press it gets or what people think of it?

random thought: drew barrymore had an interview once where she said she loves getting tickled bc it helps her relieve stress. you could add that in.

It would be nice if something like that worked but, even Yaqi has tried to introduce tickling to the mainstream in a positive way and people that aren't into it just don't seem to want to even consider the concept of it becoming a part of the norm.

I'm sorry but, I just don't think it's going to happen any time soon. At least not in this generation.

The majority just isn't ready for it yet.

Well if a BDSM group released a study saying frequent spanking helped lower your blood pressure I'd be like "hahah... no."

The thing is, it's not tickling that's getting a bad rap. That's already about as mainstream as it gets. Its tickling fetishism that puts off people. And trying to bring that into the mainstream is a lost cause.

While I agree 100%, and while I think that what the guy above is doing..(e-mailing radio stations? Come on guy..seriously..)..is WAY over the top..

..I couldnt help but think about how foot fetishism is kind of becoming mainstream and acceptable, especially with Tarantino coming out and admitting he has one, and multiple mentions on TV shows and such, it's sort of..kind of..become less "weird" in people's minds..

I doubt that Tickling will ever be accepted to that extent, but whose to say that in 50 or 100 years its not possible?

Have you all heard of laughter yoga? The research about the benefits of laughing would seem to apply to laughter induced by tickling too!

Because any increase in the normalization or popularization of tickling makes it easier for us to indulge in it.

To be honest, I don't think Tarantino has done squat to make foot fetishism more acceptable in people's minds. He puts foot shots in his movies and people bitch about how creepy he is for doing it, not laud him for its artistic value.

Still, there's some kind of sick fascination the vanillas have with this stuff. They're all like, "oh, that's sick! Tell me all about it."

Like with that guy on the Bachelor. Everyone agreed he was a creep and a perv but every interview he did after he got kicked off the show had interviewers asking him about his foot fetish.

Should tickling fetishism go mainstream? Eh, I'm torn. I don't think Yaqi did anything to give us "good press" by going on Stern. That's like trying to get people to take you seriously as an ape researcher by sitting in their cage at the zoo and letting them fling poo at you. But even if it should, I don't think the way described in the OP is the way to go about it. It's precisely because of weirdness like that that tickle fetishists get a bad name.

Eh, I agree, screw it, your right.

I just really do wish I didnt have to feel "weird" or stuff about this.
Wish I could just meet a girl and be like "Yeah, I'm into this" without having any worry about "Ok, now she thinks I'm pervish"

I dont agree at all with the way guy up there is going about it mind you.

But still..

That there sex thing is all the rage these days, I hear. Funny how I don't seem to be getting laid all that often.

Laughter induced by tickling does not last long if the person is not into being tickled though. That is the problem.

And that is why 'good press' won't change anything. People who don't like to be tickled will not like it if there is 'good press'. People who are generally not tolerant towards fetishes will not be more tolerant if it's on the press. And people who are tolerant will not need 'good press'.

Sorry if this offends anyone but the tickling fetish, as opposed to tickling just to tickle, will become "mainstream" around the same time as spanking, golden showers, dressing up as babies, being led around on a leash etc become "mainstream". There was a time when men liking women's breasts was considered a fetish. But I think (and I'm just guessing here) that so many men like women's breasts and it's so common that there's no point in classifying it as a fetish. It would be like saying some men have a vagina fetish. Nobody wants to know about your personal sexual kinks, unless they first want to know other things about you, personally.

Not what I meant at all. In fact I had forgotten about the Howard Stern stuff until you brought it up. What I was talking about is when he was on an episode of "The other half" which was some other network's answer to "The View". I think he also did a tickling demonstration for HBO's "Real Sex" but, whether or not it was ever aired I don't know. Anyway, those were the things I was talking about concerning Yaqi.

Did anyone notice I never mentioned tickling fetish? Of course tickling as a fetish is not going to be widely accepted forca long long time. What I was wondering is if there was maybe a way to get people to see the simple act of innocent tickling as a good, even healthy thing. Sorry if I wasn't clear

Who sees tickling as something different than that if I may ask?? Most people haven't even heard anything about the fetish before one of us brings it up!

Well I can tell you that if sex weren't all the rage, it would be even harder for you to get laid.

even though yaqi didnt seem to do much, there are many howard stern clips with the "tickle chair"... idk if that was before or after yaqi, but obviously stern thought people liked to see that. and he added a more playful aspect to it with the questions he asked and such.
