Going Away For A While

My computer has recently decided to drastically increase its retardedness. Among other problems, I can't access the chatroom here because it says I don't have Java installed. When I install Java, it still tells me I don't have Java installed. And about every 1 min 30 sec -- 5 min, a random pop-up rears its ugly head. And we're having no luck finding the source of the problems.

So, I'm gonna go away for a while. At least until I get my new computer which could be anywhere from a couple weeks to a few months, depending on how I arrange my finances so I can actually afford one.

But yeah...I'll be back, just don't know when exactly. Hopefully the new computer will work better.

Why don't you just format the disk and reinstall the operative system? It is a lot cheaper...

Yeah, try wiping the hard drive (or installing a new one), reinstalling everything from the OS on up and your problems should go away. Windows seems to get flaky as time goes on

It's an old computer with a lot of issues. Been needing a new one for a while now. Besides, this one isn't technically mine, and I would like one to myself.

The unbidden popups sounds like a classic spyware or adware infestation. You might want to try one or more of the free antispyware programs discussed in this thread if reformatting is not an option.
