Got a new keyboard today

So, today I bought a new keyboard for my computer. It's not much. It only cost me $15 brand new. And no bells or whistles.

However, while shopping around, I was looking at some of the more expensive keyboards. How the hell do some of these companies justify charging so much. One board was over $200! What the hell could this thing have on it(aside from optical mouse and missile launcher) to make it cost so damn much?

So, being the computer bumpkin that I am, I thought I could pose a question to those out there that are more educated in these matters. I'm sure someone out there in tickle land has need for these types of boards or even bought one for the tech-filled fun of it.

So, what makes these expensive boards so damn great???

I would only consider an expensive keyboard if it were ergonomically designed and extremely comfortable. I am currently using the one built into my cute little laptop, which is adequate but has no wrist support.

yes, i bought the one with missle launcher..but it seems to always missfire when i press enter.

ya, i bought my ergonomic microsoft keyboard for $50.

but as a word of advice for all since we're on the subject....

ya know those laser mice? well at least in my case, their crap for computer gaming, they freeze up alot, and screw up so ya look down and up for no reason when your playing a game.

I got a new keyboard the other day too! It's black and white and has 88 keys on it! You can hear SoUnDs on it if you push the keys as well! 😛

I believe there are some keyboards that are made specifially for comfort. If you have ever seen one, it looks like sorta wavy, but its made so you can keep your hands straight . I think those are the expenisve ones. I prefer logitech keyboards

Mine is an MS. It's nothing special but, does include a few extra media, email, messenger and other misc buttons. I got mine at staples about a year ago for 15 bucks. It's full of cigarette ashes but, still works great! I think I got a lot more bang for the buck with this one!

Mine is a wireless one! Not much, only about $49.99 (cheap for a wireless)

but i am shocked about the $200 dollar keyboard thing! It probably had a sepcial key that would give a laser light show!

I had to buy a new keyboard recently as well and I was hit with the same sticker shock. When my old keyboard died I used an old ergonomic one for a while and got used to it...so when I bought a new one I looked for one of the same.
Mine only cost me $20 or so...and really I don't see any point in getting one of the super pricey ones. Do you really need browser controls on your keyboard? Who would use that anyway? When browsing your hand is on the mouse...very inefficient to hunt out the browser buttons on the keyboard.
My only gripe is that the arrow keys are small and layed out this way:
up
left right
down

instead of normal:
up
left down right

Which makes it hard to play games that require nimble arrow ussage but it's no biggie.

Anyway...off track. Yes. Keyboards. Expensive. Mice are the same way. Rather pointless features to justify the price tag. Really....why would you need a wireless keyboard? Are you going somewhere with it?? A drain on batteries as well.
