Does anybody here know of any good Gothic bands or some ones that you can suggest for me to look up to listen to?

(and it can be from any type of Goth genre of music as well)

Thanks

:bat:

Two favorites here that get lumped-in(perhaps unfairly) with the Goth genre are Dead Can Dance and This Mortal Coil. Both feature hauntingly beautiful female vocals.

One of the groundbreaking trance/dark ambient artists, Steve Roach, is also a big favorite.

Try these guys for some decent current artists.

yeah thanks for your suggestions Dr. 🙂

Dead Can Dance- they surely do have a different but yet beauitful sound! i will prob go ahead and check them out more in music stores.

and while i was searching online i found this other band thats quit outstanding. the band is called Human Drama if you go onto amazon.com you'll be able to hear samples from there albums 😀

Dead Can Dance is awesome, I agree. I would also recommend Mephisto Waltz, Ghost Dance, Murder by Death, Trespassers William, and two bands who are lumpred in with goth music, although i don't really think they are, The Cure, and Echo and the Bunnymen.
If you want to hear some off the beaten track goth music (or really, ANY type of music) check out www.cdbaby.com. It is an awesome website that has all kinds of music by independant artists, meaning no record label telling them what to do! You can actually hear something original. And their search engine is great.

Thanks for the leads, Goat and Doll! Ya' gotta love a name like Murder By Death.

Two others I should have mentioned earlier are Scorn and The Cocteau Twins.

or how about the famous Lords of Acid-Show me your pussy 😛

i heard of that group and that song last night on some Goth Radio online, pretty funny song no less though.

Have any of you listened to Black Tape For a Blue Girl? They are really good. If you want to check them out, you can download a 5 song live EP for FREE on their website, www.blacktapeforabluegirl.com. It's not long, but it's really good. it has three originals, plus 2 covers: "All Tomorrow's parties" by the Velvet Underground and "Space Oddity" by David Bowie. Check it out!

Switchblade Symphony

Love Spirals Downward

Heard of but never actually had a chance to listen to Switchblade Symphony , but Love Spirals Downwards and Black Tape For A Blue Girl are both wondrous!

Speaking of Bowie, I was just listening to the title track to his Scary Monsters album on this kick-assed Halloween Mix that a contact was kind enough to make! The track before Bowie was Souxie and the Banshees' "Trick Or Treat"! I'm with Goatboy in that Souxie, Psychadelic Furs, and The Cure don't quite fit the current "Goth" mold. I consider them forerunners, along with bands like Bauhaus and Joy Division.

the darker, more sensual, not sold out version of Evanescence? Sounds like Lacuna Coil. lol Anyone ever listen to them?

yeah i have. i have a few downloaded cd's from Lacuna Coil. There just most random songs of Lacuna Coils burnt on cd's! but still there quit good 😀. i should maybe go out and buy there new cd thats out

If you want the ultimate in goth bands, in fact all girl goth bands, you MUST check out Jack Off Jill. They are just awesome. Their album 'Clear Hearts, Grey Flowers' is a masterpiece from start to finish.

Sadly, they are no more. They split not long after that album came out. The vocaist, Jessika, kept doing rather alarming things at gigs and they got banned from just about everywhere they played. The rest of the band finally got sick of her and moved on.

Check em out though.
