It's actually that the HTML coding is disabled from use in threads and posts for this forum. Which is for security purposes since Spambots can register and drop in malacious coding before we get to it.

Personally, I'm glad that videos and such can't be embedded. There's nothing more annoying than loading up a page and you get hit in the face by the poor quality sound of a YouTube video. Then it takes 10 seconds or so to get it turned down.

Well, actually youtube videos don't play automatically except on youtube. When you embed them, you have to press the play button. At least that's how it's been in my experience. Thanks for the replies though, guys. I still have some getting used to on this forum.

I think it's also a browser-related thing. I run Firefox 3, and for me, embedded videos like that typically start playing on their own. YMMV on that, of course.
But for me, YouTube videos are the least of my worries. I've been at forums where embedding is allowed and it's just a nightmare! People will put awful music in their signature, or there'll be music fights in threads that make them essentially unvisitable.
It's a great feature, I guess, if people are responsible with it. I've just yet to find where people are!
