The Dodgers trailed the Phillies last night 3-0 early and still trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the 9th. In fact, they still trailed 3-2 with two outs and nobody on base in the bottom of the 9th.
Then:
Blakely singled on a 2-2 pitch.
Lonely walked on a 3-2 pitch.
Martin reached first base on an infield grounder bobbled by their 3rd baseman on a 2-2 pitch.
So the bases were loaded after the Dodgers had been one strike away from losing the game on three different occasions.
On the first pitch he saw in that at-bat, Ethier then hit a 2-RBI walk-off double.
Final score was Dodgers 4, Phillies 3.
Nothing better than a come-from-behind rally to win in the bottom of the 9th (or of an extra inning).
