GreenBay Boos Farve

Favre coming back to Green Bay in a Vikings uniform is like Len Dawson coming back to Municipal Stadium or Arrowhead Stadium in Raiders gear.

Plus, he retired as a Packer...then changed his mind...twice.

Why shouldn't they boo him? He lied by copping out and retiring to change teams

Wow, that was a little extreme. I mean God.

March 2, 2001, after signing a contract that made him the NFL's first $100 million player: "I do want to be a Packer for life ... I couldn't envision myself playing with another team ... If that was to ever come up, I would probably just retire."

November 7, 2003: "I don't know if it's going to be this year, next year. I mean, I still think there's a lot left out there for us and a lot left out there for me."

March 31, 2006, Biloxi Sun-Herald: "If I do play this year, it will be my last. There's no doubt about that."

May 6, 2006: "I know I said that. But I hope you guys will respect me. I'm going to play this year, give it my best and not talk about it."

September 6, 2006, in response to a question by Bob Costas, he says he's "99.9 percent" sure he'll retire as a Green Bay Packer.

December 31, 2006, interviewed by NBC's Andrea Kremer after Green Bay's 26-7 win over the Bears at Soldier Field: "If today is my last game, I want to remember it. It's tough ... tough. I'll miss these guys, and I'll miss the game ..."

February 3, 2007, quoted by Packers GM Ted Thompson in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel: "I think I'll go one more time."

May 14, 2007: "... I don't want to be traded. I want to finish my career as a Packer."

January 10, 2008, in the Biloxi Sun-Herald, three days before a playoff game against Seattle: "For the first time in three years, I haven't thought this could be my last game. I would like to continue longer."

January 21, 2008: "I'm not going to rush to make a big decision, but it will probably be quicker than it's been in the past."

March 6, 2008: "It's been a great career for me, but it's over ... I don't think I've got anything left to give."

April 3, 2008, asked about Favre coming back, his agent, Bus Cook, tells the Los Angeles Times' Sam Farmer: "That's news to me. I don't think that has anything to do with anything. He's retired, period, point blank."

April 10, 2008, Biloxi Sun-Herald: "I very well could be enticed."

April 25, 2008, before a luncheon honoring his image on the cover of Madden '09: "First of all, I'm not going to keep myself in shape ... There were always second thoughts ... It wasn't ever a clear-cut decision."

Free Draft Guide July 14, 2008, interviewed by Fox's Greta Van Susteren, Favre says he was "never fully committed" to retiring: "If I play, it's going to be 100 percent commitment."

August 8, 2008: "I'm here for one reason ... I'm here to help the Jets win."

February 12, 2009: "It's been a wonderful career, I couldn't ask for anything more. It was worth a shot for me to go to New York. I wish I could've played better down the stretch. I didn't.

"It's time to leave."

June 15, 2009, asked by Joe Buck about the Vikings (after his wife had made a deposit on a condo in Minnesota): "It makes a lot of sense because the pieces are in place."

July 29, 2009: "I didn't feel like physically I could play at a level that was acceptable. I would like to thank everyone, including the Packers, Jets and Vikings, but, most importantly, the fans."

August 18, 2009, asked about wearing a Vikings helmet: "It was different. I'm not going to lie to you."

Extreme? This guy has lied to the fans at every corner and turn. Do you like being lied to everytime someone opens their mouth? Extreme? Hardly. I am surprised the fans didn't storm the field to bury him. 😡

You know what is funny? The Fact that humans lie each and everyday. We are not a perfect species by any means. Lets face it, the man loves to play the game and he had to do some soul searching. Keep in mind...THE PACKERS got rid of HIM! THEY wanted to go a different route with Aaron Rodgers. All You Packer fans, and anybody else that is going to boo Brett Favre can climb off your high horse, because heres the deal. What happend has happend, Favre made his choice and he made a good choice. That man spent 16 years with the pack and helped achieve superbowl wins, and this is how you repay him? By booing someone you all thought was in a sense part of your "family" SHAME on all of you. I've never been a packer fan, I don't have respect for packer fans because all they do is whine and cry when things dont go their way...but I do have respect for Brett Favre and everything he has accomplished. So anybody who has a problem with Brett Favre being a Viking can just keep their mouth shut. He's obviously chosen a team who welcomes him and respects him.

the packer fans did as they should the nfl is a what have you done for me lately type of league. Right now favre is a viking and the pack and vikings are rivals. The superbowl win (not wins) he got them means nothing for the here and now.

In response to Ticklingfeet4u, I have just as much right to back him up, as you do to boo him. You sitting there trying to act all hardcore and badass over the keyboard is pathetic. I'm just telling you how it is. I dont give a flying rip if he won 1 superbowl with the pack, or 5 superbowls with the pack. Fact is he was a part of the Wisconsin community for 16 years. All im saying is have some respect for him. He's a verteran of the sport and deserves that respect for everything he has accomplished. If you don't like him thats fine, you dont have to. But that doesnt give you the right to sit there and piss and moan when things arent going the way that you would have liked them to go. So what if he chose to comeback, thats his choice. Are you the one playing the game? Are you Brett Favre?? NO! so i'll say it again. SHUT YOUR ANNOYING MOUTH. I'd rather sit in mosquito infested waters then listen to another whiny lil bitch complain about Brett Favre. What happend has happend. Cry me a river, build a bridge and get the hell over it. End of discussion!

lmao someone is lacking an argument, you have no reason to respect favre just you said so, so it better be done.

as i said football is what have you done for me lately and lately favre is the enemy and he is a waffler. The only reason he is liked right now in minnesota is because he is winning if they were a mediocre team everyone would hate him as they did before the season. Google the stories coming out of minnesota when he decided to come back, they werent happy and didnt show respect

after he got with the vikings he immediatly threw the jets under the bus for saying they didnt want him back (the players couldnt stand him and thought he was a douchebag.. look up thomas jones on brett favre). He told the nfl the jets didnt put him on the injury report when his shoulder was hurt knowing what he was doing... the jets were fined a good chunk of money, it was then revealed it was favre's doing that he was not on the injury report not the jets staff.

3 weeks into the season he announced to the world that this vikings team is the best and most talented he has ever been a part of (just to piss off the packers and their fans).. he won a sb this clearly isnt the best team he was a part of.. so someone who lies and waffles and takes shots at the orginization that made him what he is deserves my respect? i think not

he knew all along he was going to the vikings but he purposly waited till after training camp to show up because he didnt want to do it. So instead of learning plays and devolping a relationship with the wr's he was sitting at home because in his head he was above being part of the team..

he has now retired and come back 3 times because he didnt like the situation he was in. He cant let go of the spotlight and comes off as if he is bigger than the league

personally i cant wait for a repeat of the game in pittsburgh where favre will as always throw a bunch of ints or have a few fumbles and single handidly blow a game so minnesota can jump on the bandwagon of favre hate.

so put aside your apparent undying love of favre and look at it like everyone else does. He has had a good career...not great yes i said not great

He has a lot of records one being the all time most int record, if he were to go into the hall of fame today he would have the lowest passer efficancy of any qb there, and he has only won 1 superbowl and choked away more games then he would like to admitt. Hes a diva and rundown one at that and people are sick of it.. take your first round playoff exit and ride off into the sunset so we dont have to deal with you is the motto i have for the whole situation.. im not in the mood for another offseason of will he wont he.. the small amount of respect i had for him is long gone

why don`t both of you two lighten up.

TF4F....we all get it , believe me some more than others. You can`t stand Favre. that is your right

FeatherMAN28... and it is just as much your right to like Favre

The only problem here is U2 Yahoos feel the need to be right and want EVERYONE to be on board with your point of view. Have a very compelling argument over Favre, but c`mon the name calling makes you guys look very adult 😡

look im agreeing with flockofseagulls, im not gonna sit here and argue with the two of you, i came on here to prove my point, which i did, i defended favre because i believe in his choices and what hes doing, if you two guys are going to sit there and attack me becasue of what i believe or because of my age then i think the two of you are the immature ones, not me. I'm done now. Go ahead and throw a tantrum. I don't care.

my attempt at mediation...

Can we all just debate without the hostility??

Man, just because a person doesn't agree with your opinion, doesn't make them wrong?? after all, that is what each person is doing...stating opinion

Just because someone is defending Farve doesn't make them a licker, or any negative term... just as people have the right to boo, they also have the right to defend and cheer him

To dislike a person just because they lied?? that's silly.... he who lives in glass houses do not throw stones... people lie all the time...and anyone who says they have never lied is lying themselves...get off the high horse

Despite Farve's constant flip-flopping, and I am just as tired as you, do not discount what this man has done for his career...second to nobody...and deserves the respect...give it to him

Yes, last year he did not play well for the Jets, I agree, but do not crucify the man because of that, or hold grudges..because he was not the only reason the Jets did not make the playoffs...there is a phase of the game called defense

So guys please lets debate with some civility... if not, then kindly keep your words to yourself...because this going back and forth is only proving how childish you can act, hurting no one but yourself

TANTRUM??? IMMATURE??? You are done again??? Let's pray you are this time. Or are you going to be like you buddy Brett and lie again.

As far as Natural is concerned, I don't have to GIVE Favre respect. Respect is EARNED not just given because you said so. Also it was you that called me up saying they were making the playoffs after aquiring that the overrated QB. Well exactly how far did the Jets go in the playoffs??? You didn't call me after all their other acquistions. You called me after Favre came to the Jets saying 'congratulations your team is going to the playoffs.' So before you sit there and talk about defense, you didn't call me after any other player vame to the Jets. Only after Favre. Now you want to blame the defense. Did the defense throw nine interceptions in the last five games? Or was that 'God' Favre who did that? I think we all know the answer to that.

boy there has been a bee in you bonnett the last week or so. everyone please recognize this statement

'' It`s all 100% Favre`s fault!!! Every year the Jets have had a bad season is because of Favre. Even win he played in Atlanta, Green Bay, Southern Miss., highschool, pop warner, and even before his parents conceived him. Favre is even a blight on the Jets existence. ''

Why all you people don`t GET that is beyond me.

What??? I haven't talked to you in a while so what does the last week have to do with anything??? Oh...nevermind. It doesn't matter.

On the bright side, Favre helped a couple of my fantasy receivers have big games. 🙂

For all the Favre haters, just wait until December when Favre goes Favre and starts throwing to the wrong team. It happens EVERY December just like Winter.

Yeah, everything in these forums is based on opinions, which is why it doesnt make sense to argue. There are going to be people who like Favre and people who hate them, thats just the way it is.

and i will enjoy every second of it, ive never liked favre no real reason but over the last couple of years he has given quite a few reasons.. come dec/jan the vikings will be just as bitter as the jets, the only difference is the jets ended up with their qb of the future because of favre. Unfortunatly for the vikings where they will be drafting that wont happen

And you know what's funny about all this?? this is all coming from a person who claims to be intelligent about discussing sports...he is so one-sided its not even funny... To blame one person only for your collapse is crazy... and to think I thought he was knowledgeable....rethinking that theory big time

Yes, I thought with the acquisition, the Jets was playoff bound...it didn't happen ok? But to blame just one person only, is ridiculous...and I thought you were smarter than that..guess I was wrong

At least I can debate without all the hostility, and name calling, something that is still a work in progress with you....good luck on that

This. I'm not a fan of Favre but I can certainly respect what he brought to the game of football (before the whole retirement/no I wanna play/oh wait, I'm going to retire shit and yes, you can respect someone without necessarily liking them). He WAS Green Bay for a long time. And he'll be inducted into the HOF as a Packer so Green Bay will cheer for him once again. And another swell thing here...........life will go on and none of this Favre shit has anything to do with me so moving right along.....

Thanks and please drive thru! :bounce:

You think TF4's rant in this thread is bad, you shoulda heard him on the sports show last night. Forty minutes of classic ranting and arguing. I swear, I thought he was rabid by the time we were done. :bwahaha:

This comes from a guy who thinks the Cubs ( and picks them ) to win ever year. Knowledgable??? Smarter??? Coming from a fan of fans who blame the Cubs lack of success on a goat and Steve Bartman.

P.S. I blame the Jets organization ( anyone who listens to the program knows this ) knows I blame the organization from bringing him to New York. But you fail to acknowledge 9 INT's that Favre did throw in the last five games. Is it blame??? No. It is fact. I make a more compelling arguement of 9 INT's in the last five games than blaming a goat or a fan, now don't I???
