What are peoples favorite things to cook over and open flame or bed of hot charcoal?
For me, pork is my preferred meat, thin cuts, marinated lightly and cooked until fork tender.
Grilling veggies as well, root vegetables do great as well as corn on the cob in the husk that has been soaked in either salt water or sugar water........
What do you prefer to cook?

when me or my dad grills, we grill ribs, chicken, burgers, hotdogs, broats, u name it we grill it

Those are all great things to grill, does you dad do most of the grilling or do you take part as well?

my dad does the majority of the grilling, he was teaching me last year how to grill. my brother grills too but only uses hickory smoked wood

Mmm, barbecue. This thread is gonna make me hungry. xD

Among my favorites are corn, steak, these local-brand teriyaki burgers that soak slightly into the bun and explodes flavor into your mouth (guh, need some of those this summer), and a variety of local fish.

Oh man, it's been far too long since I've been to or had a barbecue (though it's definitely barbecue season, so hopefully that'll be remedied soon). I really love burgers off the grill, and in recent years my friends and I have been making skewers with veggies and either chicken, steak, or shrimp. We're still trying to think of vegan and vegetarian friendly things that we could grill (we're obviously amateurs), besides obvious grilled vegetables, so any ideas would be appreciated.

Burger patties with cheddar cheese inside them and spices already added on. Just pop'em on the grill and within fifteen to twenty minutes you have delicious hamboogy cheddary goodness melting in your mouth (note: I called them hamboogies when I was a little girl (^_~).

Ticklishdragon- Nice choice on the wood, makes for a unique flavor
Dalek- thumbs up all around on those choices
Ticklewolf- Just to let you know tempting others in all things is my specialty, For your vegan friends try the big portabello mushrooms, and the beefeater mushrooms, also, any of the root vegtables- potatoes, sweet potatoes, Yams, Carrots, turnips, parnsips are so good
Rox- I am there with you........In fact here is a fun website you might enjoy, and I love me some great cheese!

Ah, thank you! <3 We haven't done much grilling of yams, sweet potatoes, turnips, or parsnips. I think an attempt at grilling carrots was made, though I don't think it was successful. (I believe that was the day everything was somehow set on fire, so we said "screw this" and ordered pizza instead.) We're not all huge mushroom fans, but I think we'll have to give it a try anyway! (We're huge texture people, but maybe grilling them will make them more palatable?) I'm also trying to figure out if/how I could effectively grill eggplant and other nightshades, because eggplant=very tasty. :3

*laugh* Sorry, I'm a -little- hungry and I can't stop babbling. 😛

Hey when the grill is going if you come and leave hungry it is your own damn fault!
Eggplant I know can be grilled you will want to make sure you let it drain its moisture out first otherwise, it will kind've steam itself into mush :-( I will gladly put up recipes on how I do things, food is my hobby only second to tickling...........

Well there is a big room downstairs with lots of beanbags and sound proof walls, that might just come in handy I have a feeling. Trees with convenient eye bolts for restraints needed at a moments notice. It could be a lot of serious chaos fun

Last couple things I cooked on the grill were sweet peppers, bacon, and potatoes wrapped in tin foil. Good stuff.

This thread is making me so hungry. *drools* I think I'm gonna have to get my grill together and have a barbecue, or see if any of my friends are planning one and start helping with supplies/planning a menu. :3

Hmmm we know we need to avoid Virginia, there are actual anti tickle laws there..........Hmmmm need some place not so hot were our group can have private times
