There's too much seriousness going on, so I thought I'd start a topic about deadly weapons! 🙂

I'm very interested in purchasing a firearm, and I was wondering if there were other gun-enthusiasts/firearm owners here, and what their favorite weapons are, and why. I'd love to hear from you people! :stickout

While I do love to think about firearms, I find their discussion often invites arguments, especially from people who've never lifted or even touched a gun.

That said... Mmmmmmm..... guns...

And many of these people, who are arguing about firearms in various discusions and on various forums, did not ever read anything or know anything about firearms...

hmm just make sure you know how to handle the gun, once you've purchased it..and how ironic lol i was just stating i was for gun control in my thread about the neighbor's son shot in the line of duty..

I am huge on gun ownership. I have a soft spot for Dragunov or the M16, but the Colt Double Eagle is nice as well. Perhaps my favorite gun is a standby Mossberg 500.

Gun control is for pacifists with no damn spine.

I'm a firearms enthusiast and federally licensed collector. I'm in full support of the Second Ammendment. If you have any questions about purchasing or gun handling..feel free to PM me. I'm also an NRA qualified Range Officer.

I was thinking about buying a gun.

I don't want to rob a bank or anything. I wouldn't mind getting some service though...

😀

Snail Shell

what kind of service???? ^ and hey shooter long time..

I'm a military weapons enthusiast as well as a non-military weapons enthusiast. I already own two guns: A Beretta FS92 and an Uzi sub-machine gun.

I'd love to get my hands on an AA-12 Automatic Shotgun, AK-47, MP7, Desert Eagle, SVD Sniper Rifle, AS-50 Sniper Rifle, SPAS 12 Shotgun, M82A1 Barrett Sniper Rifle, PKM, and and M249 SAW.

and you think guns are not serious?I hope you take the responsibility of owning a gun seriously.

Guns are pretty awesome, and I think kids should play with them.

Kidding of course.

I think they can be a good thing depending on who has it and why they are using it.
If you use it to stop a bank robbery then it's good that you have one,if you are the robber then, not so good.
We can't say guns are entirely bad,it can be a good thing that we have them.
It's the action the gun is being used for that is bad not the gun itself.
This is why we have licenses,to teach people how to be safe with guns and use them properly.
It just raises a red flag to me when someone says,''lets talk about something not serious.'' and brings up guns.Guns are very serious and have caused a problem in a sense that the people using them have made bad choices.

I didn't feel the need to point out that I was being silly about "seriousness", I thought it was obvious. Obviously firearms are just toys for people who drink too much alcohol, such as myself! It makes them more fun. 🙂

Kidding aside, I would never use a weapon against another person unless my own life was at risk. According to a little research I've done, I don't need a "class 3" license to privately own an automatic weapon that was made post-ban (look up the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 if unaware). But, the nature of the internet makes this unclear, which is where I get most of my information about the AWB. I would like to get my hands on an automatic weapon before our new president has a chance to permanently reinstate the AWB (please please please, for the love of whatever deity you believe in, no political discussion). Anybody know for sure what the status on that is, or where I could find reliable information?

One last thing. I would hope that a talk about firearms would just bring the enthusiasts out, and so far that's true. We're all aware the danger that firearms can bring, and the amount of training and responsibility you should acquire before even handling one. Assuming that nobody lied about their age when they signed up, we're all adults here. :stickout There's no need to stress that guns can be used for bad things. We know. Thank you!

well of course i lied about my age..would anyone admit to being fifty three on a site where most everyone is twenty something? hehe..

I've never understood what's interesting about guns and weapons--as far as their inherent qualities, they seem kinda boring to me.

That said, I feel the same way about cars, heavy woodworking equipment, kitchen appliances and collectible porcelain dolls, and I know people get very enthusiastic about all of those things as well, so to each his own!

Porcelain dolls can't kill people unless you throw them hard enough. That presents a problem in defending one's home, unless you have an arsenal of dart-shaped porcelain weaponry at the ready. In which case, that would be badass.

A gun is a tool...yes...that much is true...any weapon is ultimately a tool...it takes a conscious act to use it.

However, a gun only has one purpose, to injure in some way (whether physically [via shooting or bashing someone with it] or psychologically [by threatening with it]).

It is not a toy. It's purpose is to harm. If you own a gun, for the love of god be sure to handle it RESPONSIBLY!

As for gun control laws, as long as people follow the law, fill out all the needed forms, and go through the steps, then hell yes we need gun control laws! People can still own guns, it's the people who shouldn't ever have a gun put in their hands that are the ones that gun control laws are for.

I'm not into guns. I'm more into records! (Think they can't be used as weapons? Have you ever felt how sharp the edges on some of those suckers are? You could probably decapitate someone by throwing one, like the character Oddjob with his steel-brimmed hat in the movie Goldfinger!)

Gun control is for pacifists with no damn spine.

Common-sense gun control measures aside (i.e. not selling guns to known violent criminals and psychos, etc.), I think "gun control" is often used as a buzzword by douchebag politicians throwing us a bone so we won't lean on them too hard to address the root-causes of violent crime. Doing that would take actual effort on their part, wouldn't it?

Anyway, I'm a garage-sale nut. I once went to a garage sale, held by a retiring police officer if memory serves. In addition to some nice furniture and rugs, he had on display about 100 different kinds of knives. And several kinds of ammunition. No guns, just boxes and boxes of bullets!

well of course i lied about my age..would anyone admit to being fifty three on a site where most everyone is twenty something? hehe..

I know what you're talking about! :ggrin: :ggrin: :ggrin: :ggrin:

In the end, a gun is just an object. An object with more purposes than for harming. People collect guns, people shoot them for fun. I think guns are beautiful! I'd love to collect guns if I had the money. I think private citizens should be allowed to arm themselves with assault rifles, and other automatic weapons. Gun control laws don't stop people from getting their hands on weapons, it just stops them from doing so legally. The gangs that inhabit big cities like Chicago, LA and New York are better armed than the police. Anyone think they observed the requisite 15-day waiting period for those weapons? 😉

I am also a serious firearms enthusiast and currently own two handguns, both legally. When money was less tight, I was also an avid target shooter.

For an everyday defence gun, I would favour a medium-calibre pistol or revolver from a well-known manufacturer, carried only with name-brand ammunition. I would also recommend getting professional safety training, whether or not your state's laws require it.

I did, and they didn't cover "Zombie Apocalypse of 2012". As for a choice of smaller weapons, I was leaning toward the Ruger SP-101

This video discouraged me from even thinking about a Desert Eagle:

lol

I'm a gun owner and collector. If this is your first firearm I'd sugest you go to a shooting range and try several different types. Most ranges have firearms you can rent. Once you decide take cources about care and handling of deadly weapons. My favorites are the colt 1911 style handguns and the smith and wesson or ruger 357. Most imporantly spend the money to buy a quality product. Cheap guns don't always work when you need them.

Let's see...my favorites....

Walther P-38 Parabellum, Charter Arms AR-7 Survival rifle, anything blackpowder (cap and ball only, no inline crap), Mossberg bolt-action .410 bore.

Junk guns...anything made by Bryco-Jennings...
