I know this happened a few days ago. While I've been here, without regular internet access, On Demand, or baseball Extra Innings Package, I've been watching some of the Casey Anthony trial. I am confident that Ms Anthony will be found guilty. I believe she committed a horrible crime.

Did any forum members happen to see or hear about the TGI Friday's waiter, who, for apparently no reason at all, gave prosecutor Mr Ashton the middle finger, during the trial, this week? In all honesty, this must be one of the most idiotic moves by anyone in a court room, ever. The waiter was not directly involved in the trial, as a witness, or such. Mr Ashton was doing nothing to the waiter. Despite this, the waiter flipped Ashton off, and was sentenced to six days in jail by Judge Blevin, for contempt of court.

It can be difficult enough to contain oneself in a court trial where one is involved. However, one has to do so, to avoid being held in contempt, or convicted of a crime. For someone to do what the waiter did, for no reason at all, is just plain idoicy.

Thoughts on this?

The Casey Anthony trial is long, drawn out and horrific. Maybe he just wanted to get out of jury duty. Who knows?

Tropic, yes, the trial is long, but.. still, there was no reason for that.

In court, one wrong move can result in deep shit. I was once a witness in a trial, and, before we went into the courtroom, merely walked over to the opposing side, to try and ask them something. I was not threatening, or menacing, in any way, and before I knew it, the Baliff seperated us, and said something like "Discuss this in the courtroom with the judge".

Another time I was in a courtroom, it seemed that the judge was just making statements off the top of his head, without hearing the facts of the case. Before the hearing, I walked up to the bench, and said very respectfully. "Your honor, please consider all the facts of the case, before rendering your decision". All the judge said was something like "Mitchell, you will be heard". I then turned, and quickly walked out, not wanting to even risk pissing him off.

The guy who did this was either crazy, lame, or forgot where he was. Judge Belvin demonstrated that the rules of the court in the Anthony trial were clearly posted, so what in God's name posessed the guy who gave the prosecutor the bird finger?

I felt that the sentence was justified. Maybe during his six day stay in the clinck, the guy will learn never to behave that way in a courthouse again.

Like I said, maybe that's what he wanted.

Six days in court or weeks pouring over a trial? May not have been the best way to go about it, but I could still be right in my assessment.
