Look. I know that there are some advantages to posing as a female on places like the TMF, but do you really have to add insult to injury by posting a pic of a model-esque woman that was clearly swiped from a fasion magazine as well?
What I'm getting at, is that, while cruising the member pictures over at the TMF, I had noticed a large number "gussied up" pic's belonging to several "female" posters. What gets me, is that I swear I had seen some of those in various fasion magazines through out the years.
As I said before. I understand that certain male members might feel more comfortable posting as a woman. It's true that a female will have an easier time getting responses on these forums than a male. And there is the all too real possibility that tickling other guys is what said poster is truly into(just as long as they don't lead the other poster into a personal meeting, thereby causing more than a few problems).
However, there is no reason to insult the intelligence of the forum as a whole by posting a picture that is clearly not you. It accomplishes nothing. Claiming that it enhances the illusion is a lie. How the hell is anybody going to catch you in this lie? Seriously, nobody is going to stare at a thread you made and say "heyyyyyy! Wait a minute! she types like a man!!!"

Ah, this may be a personal issues thing I'm going through, but I still don't understand it.

LOL,
I agree with you, however the beautiful thing about the internet is that it is for the most part anonymous. People can assume an alternate life and keep that totally seperate from reality. Now don't get me wrong, I agree 100% with your arguement, it's downright annoying, but then it's also beautiful that you do have the option to be someone else. So I guess what I am saying is that you get the bitter with the sweet on this one.

I hear what you are saying, but there really isn't much you can do about it.

People think they can be different online.

I prefer to be me.

though i hate nazis and their kin

wait wrong statement

i was asked what was so wrong about role-playing online, because i seemed so smarmy about stuff like that

personally, i don't think it's insulting anybody but the person himself for wasting his time and feeling the need to deceive others, but this is an optimistic perspective and i'm not even privy to flirting with people online because i think it is too corny for me to engage in (to each their own)

if you need to trick people into liking you, or into enjoying what you're doing, then you have no honor (not that anyone cares about that), but that again is my perception of things and is subject to change, wait 6 to 8 weeks to arrive, cancel anytime

be smart about it, because if we meet, and you are not smart about it, you will die

Lucky for me I'm a Lone Wolf, and I don't meet people on the net, then. Would hate to get involved with a girl, and find out it's a guy(while I respect homosexuals, I'm all straight). Also, no-one is interested in me yet, so I can't complain.

Actually I've thought that a lot!

To me, there is no excuse for it.Whether I'm on the net or in real life, I am always genuine with people. I can't even understand the metality of people who try to decieve others.
May the fleas of 1000 camels infest their armpits.

but it is understood that being honest or genuine on the internet is a really hard thing to convey, even if you are the most sincere being on earth, because there's always that level of dubiousness that people get paranoid about, and many people have expressed this concern in my direction when they think i'm screwing with their minds due to my reputation of trolling

START celtic_emperor comes to mind for that one, thanks celtic_emperor, END START

but the internet will always be a shallow environment to communicate, and this is not only for gender/sex issues but also age, race which is less likely unless you go to www.wiggaz.com, coolness factor "in real life", et cetera

you can dissociate (defense mechanism) all you want as i have or keep worrying about it, or accept what goes on and adapt or whatnot but i think as long as we keep feeding stuff like that it's just going to persist whether you like it or not like the moonshine period where outlaws could get booze and the great gatsby could roam around his mansion and whine about forlorn love

if it really bothers you, do what normal people do and go look for women off the internet where it is easier to spot fake females

i have this image of duke diablo cosplaying as terry bogard going ARE YOU OK BUSTAH WORRF

It's lying. But you can't do anything about it. And on the other hand I doubt many people will get a decent relationship 'just' online. 🙂

Hmm... Since I'm not so good at English, please explain to me what did you mean by that?

Btw. If I understood this correctly, you probably took a pic of my hell hound. He is such a nice dog... When not devouring virgin sacrifices originally intended for me.

Hey!!! I don't have fleas!!!!!!!! 😛 😛 😛

And I'm ALL woman...no need to lie about that...I don't understand lying unless you are role playing, and all parties involved understand that you're role playing...eh...lying is lame...end of story.

you know the hollywood brother wonder sometime if guys pretend to be ladies on the web because they are not man enough to look in the mirror and face themselves. If you take the case of the hollywood brother, he could easily assume a super cool identity but instead the hollywood brother stays his third party self with all his faults like being 31 years old and single which is a very bad thing indeed

Hollywood, there's nothing wrong with being single at age 31. Most of my friends that age are already divorced, some of them twice. You're better off waiting for someone TRULY compatible with you than allowing yourself to feel pressured into a bad marriage which would surely lead to divorce and all its attendant legal, social, and financial headaches.

I also agree with Oriyaborealis' statement that it can be hard to convey "sincerity" online because of the lack of vocal and expressional cues. I think that most of us roleplay subconsciously to some extent, though I have tried to point out key differences between my online persona and my real-life conduct when I deem it necessary to make a distinction.

The Internet can and should be fun, but it's best not to take online "romances" too seriously. Sometimes Internet friends do meet and even fall in love, but it would be unwise to expect that to be the norm.

I used to have a cartoon of why not to trust computer friend's descriptions of themselves, but I can't find it. I think it was entitled "Why you should not date people you chat with on-line". If I can find it I'll post it here.

It's definately appropriate to the subject and this picture is worth 1,000 words. (At least!)

As it was said in the Rocky Horror Picture Show:

IF YA CAN'T TELL FLEAS FROM COOTIES..... JUST KIDDIN' HUMPSTER. I HOPE YOU AND MS. 'LER, PHILLY'S FINEST TICKLE PHILLIES, ARE DOING WELL. I PREDICT YOUR EAGLES WILL WIN TODAY'S BIG GAME. AFTER THEIR SHUTTING DOWN M. VIC AND THE REST OF THE FALCONS, HOW CAN THEY LOSE?

And then we come to the point that there are people that are not comfortable in their own skin - Transgenders. I have known Men that believed they were women and women who believed they were men. There's nothing wrong with it if that is how they portray themselves and how they see themselves and they get very upset by people trying to Make them be one or the other "You've got a penis, be a man" and etc. I'm just trying to delve into my psychology book and explain, not saying that I am one.

If people want to be their alter egos online, then let them be. I'm a non-miraculous college student living in alabama but my alter ego is a 28-year-old red head tickler living in Maine luring victims back to her house for a night in bondage. So what? I mean, let's take a minute to look at this. No one would be upset with That alter ego, but if my alter ego was say, a 6'4" guy with dark curly hair and two-tone eyes, people would get upset. Is it really fair to critisize people for expressing themselves? Isn't this what we learned in Kindergarden when we made fun of other people's drawings - that everyone expresses themselves differently and through life we will need to build a level of tolerance and acceptance to them. There is no shame in it.
