Right, my second new poll in here, and kind of a deep one at that. 😛

So, here's the question.

You're sat down, one day, in your recliner and reading your newspaper. For no apparent reason what so ever, a person comes a long and places a 1 Litre cup by the side of you and begins to fill it with exactly 500 millilitres of water. After giving him a baffled look, you look at the cup and think about how much he filled the cup up with.

Would you consider the cup to be "HALF FULL" or "HALF EMPTY"?

Let's see who are the optimists and the pecimists of this board, aye. 😉
 
Considering the last thing done to it was him Filling it with water i say half full....but on the other hand if you started to drink it and sit it back down then you were emptying it and i would say half empty....it all depends on what the last thing done to the cup of water was for me lol

To me it's half empty, but I'm not a negative, pessimistic person! I promise!

I put half full. I've always been the "always look on the bright side of life" sorta guy. :super_hap
 
Usually I'm positive. Something primal means that if I yell phrases like "WARRIOR" and "JUSTICE", it perks me up almost immediately and I feel terriffic. Although sometimes, I just WANT to be moody and pissy. 😛
 
Ok it is 40 Degrees Celsius here so for Tobi the glass is half empty... that is not near enough water to satisfy my thirst now!
 
That hardly seems fair. The cup is both exactly half-full and exactly half-empty, by definition. The rest is just the manipulation. Saying a product has an 80% success rate sounds and saying it fails one fifth of the time sound quite a bit different, aye?

Choosing is not for me. I like options. If I have no particular need for a cup or its contents, why bother to choose whether it is partially full or partially empty? If I need a cup into which to pour my chocolate milk then the cup is surely only halfway to my goal (which is to have an empty cup at my disposal). On the other hand, if I am thirsty that looks like a perfectly good half-full cup of water. Furthermore, if I were to come across this cup in my own kitchen I would probably assume that someone else has been using it, and seek another for my own purposes (whatever they may be).
 
Tobi's purpose now is getting away from the heat... It seems like over 40 degrees Celsius here!!
 
The real question is how is the cup, is it a perfect cylinder shape or is it in just a regular cup in which the bottom part is smaller than the top. If so than even if its filled halfway it isn't really half anything 😕.

J/K. I see it as half full. At least you have some water to begin with, and who know, water might become scarce one day and that half full will be a dream come true. 😛
 
You know, some people see the glass as half full, some see it half empty. Me? I see the glass as twice as big as it needs to be! :ggrin:
 
i say half full but i read this comic in a playboy mag where the professor says"some say its half full,some say its half empty,some say im a sick fuck cos i pissed in the glass"this is like asking "if it is better to give than to recieve"depends on if its 100000 bucks or a punch in the head
