"Happening hipsters" - who/what are those?

I came across this phrase and have no idea who/what it refers to. Being a non-native speaker, I managed to find out that "hipsters" are some kind of pants...

It would be great if someone could enlighten me 🙂

ok it can mean pants..but it can also be a slang term for hippie...hippies were in the 1960's...long hair, smoke pot, wore peace signs, wore sloppy jeans, lol..fringe jackets..it was a way of life for some...although Charles Manson gave it a bad name the creep..i was in seventh grade when he committed those murders..and i had my hair parted in the middle and it was so cool..i looked like a little hippie..then the neighborhood busy body females told my mother i looked too much like a hippie..so she made me part it on the side..they were also mostly against the Viet Nam war..but showed it in awful ways by demonstrating, and spitting on returning vets from the war..

so...a happening hipster could be a hippy who knows where it's at..where the action is...maybe..o god..

sighs..o and they gave the peace sign also...oo and check out woodstock the original...google it..that will give you an idea of a hippie..

like far out man...you are totally hip...most of the slang used then i didn't use i don't think...my worst slang is neato...lol...

Yeah well as to Charlie Manson

Charlie wasn't really a hippy, to be fair to hippies, he was a racist and a psycopath and a child molester, did u hear what he did to that one boy?
Anyway he profitted out of claiming he was a hippie and getting young girls in his ranch, get them high, screw them, tell them to sellf themselves and get them to murder people with his apocalyptic race war nonsense (shows you what racism can do)/

I'm not a hippy myself, its just messed up he did all that stuff, he is 74 now, maybe he'll kick the bucket soon, its unfair that all hippies get blamed for his antics.

In my mind, a 'Happening Hipster' is someone who is crunk or 'with it' if you know what I mean.

In my hood, we don't call someone like that a 'Happening Hipster'. We just call him/her a "G" or "Home Girl."

The only time I have heard the word "hipster" spoken was on a Seinfeld episode where someone (maybe Elaine?) called Kramer a "hipster doofus" 😀
