Hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving my fellow canucks :bouncybou

Happy Thanksgiving Canadians!! (I'd make one of my infamous graphics, but I haven't a clue about what would be appropriate!)

Thanks, Mimi! 😀 Turkey will do just fine (still stuffed, lol) :couch:

Happy Thanksgiving, Leaf, zacutiebrat, and all my Canadian friends. Hope you guys have a great day. We have six more weeks until our Thanksgiving here in the states.

Mitch

Appreciated Mitch and amk! 😀 I'm still stuffed, lol.

Now, why on earth does our Thanksgiving not coincide with yours? :upsidedow

From the link I provided:

In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November according to a declaration by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. If you think about it this does make sense - since in Canada we have a shorter growing season and our harvest is sooner then in the US - our Thanksgiving celebrations should be earlier to celebrate the harvest time.

Does that answer your question? 😀

Thanks man, I suppose it does 😀 LOL, I was too lazy to check the link 😉

Enjoy your holiday up north. 😀
By coincidence this year, it is Coumbus Day here, a holiday for most of us, but the stock market is open.

Okay then, here we go!

May your holiday be filled with treasured moments!

Mimi 😀

heh thanks for the kind wishes all! 😀 Happy thanksgiving!

I learned this from watching Ken Burn's Civil War Documentary. It was a great Northern Victory late in the War (or halfway if it was in 1863).
I used to think that the date of Thursday was a sneaky ploy to weasel in an extra day(Friday) and a weekend before returning to work...AHA!!!
But,it is,I believe, the time of your homecoming (all the recent High School Grads return home) and Friday is the kick-off of Mad Christmas shopping season..Correct!?

Thanksgiving in Canada is more attuned to the harvest. Also, early settlers to Canada of German decent celebrate Octoberfest, which is close to when the European harvest takes place)being in the same hemisphere.
