Helio wins Indy

He started on the pole, his team won the pit stop competition and he won Indy. It doesn't get much better than that.

This nice young man has had quite a year after being charged with tax evasion and now to win this amazing race has sure made 2009 his year.

I got to talk to him at Long Beach the day after he was found not guilty of the tax evasion charges. He flew from Florida to California to race at Long Beach but the talk of the weekend was about him.

He was humble. He was quite moved by the support given to him by his fans worldwide. I got a huge hug from him after his press conference when I got to congratulate him on the results of his trial. He had a quiet moment in the media room between interviews and he was just elated not only that he was found not guilty but he was where he wanted to be more than any other place in the world... he wanted to be at the track to race.

And so it comes full circle and he now has won Indy for the 3rd time.

...and maybe Danica can go back to making GoDaddy commericals. Danica is a hottie, but her sportsmanship is left to be desired.

In contrast a true champion wins his third Indy race. Helio is also a good dancer, btw.

Yeah.... I'm not much of a Danica fan either. I must say though.... when she messed up coming into a pit stop she actually apologized to the team and took responsibility for messing up the stop. Maybe the gal is learning a bit. She's got a good teacher - her boss - Michael.

And yes... Helio is a good dancer as well. He's such a nice guy and always tries to take time to talk to his fans.

Saw the race in the UK - Awesome!! I thought it was Dario Franchitis race until the balls up in the final pit-stop.

Dario is also a really nice guy. I know him through another Series he runs that is sports cars.
