Its opening night! Woo hoo! It seems.. odd. for the Houston Astros, who were part of the NL West and Central for over 50 years, to now be playing in the AL West. The Astros open tonight against the Texas Rangers. My Braves start play tomorrow night against the Phillies.

I'm looking forward to this year.

For the record.. as I've done in previous years, here are my predictions for the upcoming season as far as how teams will finish.

NL East.

1. Nationals.

2. Braves (Wild Card)

3. Phillies

4. Mets

5. Marlins.

NL Central

1. Cards

2 Reds

3. Brewers

4. Pirates

5. Cubs.

NL West.

1. Dodgers

2. Giants

3. Dbacks

4. Padres

5. Rockies.

AL East.

1. Jays

2. Yankees (Wild Card). My Dad says he thinks the Yankees are going to be terrible, but I think they should be in there. I still think the Jays are going to win the East. They are loaded.

3. Orioles

4. Rays

5. Red Sox.

AL Central.

1. Tigers

2. Royals

3. White Sox

4. Indians

5. Twins.

AL West

1. Angels

2. A's

3. Rangers

4. Mariners

5. Astros. (They will likely be the worst team in baseball)

Playoffs..

Nationals beat Dodgers in NLCS, (Sorry, mils, but the Nats just seem to be a bit better)

Blue Jays beat Angels in ALCS.

World Series.

Nationals beat Blue Jays for the World Championship.

Why wouldn't I pick the Braves to make the playoffs? I try to be realistic, forgetting the fact that I'm a Braves fan. I said the Nats would win the East, with the Braves for the wild card. The Braves went to the wild card the last two years, and I think have improved with the Upton brothers being added. Most "expert" predictions I've read say they think the Braves will win 90 odd games, and have a playoff spot. I think that is a reasonable forecast.

I just read a blog in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, written by a writer for the paper, who supposedly based his information from what he saw in an SI forecast about the season.

Supposedly, the "Experts" think the Nats will win anywhere from 100 to 105 games, and the Braves 95 or more. I think the prediction on the Braves might be slightly bullish, but, if they are healthy, I definitely think they will win at least 90 games, be one of the wild card teams, and should get to the division series.

Ok I'll rank every division too

AL East:

1) Baltimore Orioles
2) Tampa Bay Rays
3) Toronto Blue Jays
4) Boston Red Sox
5) New York Yankees

AL Central

1) Detroit Tigers
2) Cleveland Indians
3) Chicago White Sox
4) Minnesota Twins
5) Kansas City Royals

AL West:

1) Anaheim Angels
2) Texas Rangers
3) Oakland Athletics
4) Seattle Mariners
5) Houston Astros

NL East:

1) Philadelphia Phillies
2) Atlanta Braves
3) Washington Nationals
4) Miami Marlins
5) New York Mets

NL Central:

1) Cincinnati Reds
2) St. Louis Cardinals
3) Milwaukee Brewers
4) Pittsburgh Pirates
5) Chicago Cubs

NL West:

1) San Francisco Giants
2) Los Angeles Dodgers
3) Arizona Diamondbacks

With all that money they spent...you Dodgers fans better expect nothing less for the next few years.

And yet ticket prices are not up from last year. (I have tickets to 7 games in June).😀

The Dodgers will be hearing voices in their heads.. "Remember the Lakers... remember the Lakers.." and come to the same conclusion as the Lakers, money can't buy you a title.

Oddly enough, I made that same prediction last year when the season started with the San Francisco Giants and placed a wager.

It's been 25 years since Gibson's HR, Hershiser's pitching, and Lasorda's enthuasism carried the Dodgers to the championship title. Can they summon the spirit of '88 and get there once again?

(Yes Mils, that WAS a question directed at you 😀)

Nothing is certain in baseball, but I'm hoping so.
My first time this season to see the Dodgers in person is coming up soon--April 23rd to 25th when they visit the Mets.

Even though my Braves are a great 8 and 1 to start the season, I'm realistic. That is just a hot start. I know that at some point, as with any team, they will hit a cold streak. I still hold to my prediction. Washington wins the NL East, the Braves will be one of the wild card teams, and I think, will get to the division series. Beyond that, who knows?

I want the Dodgers to win the NL West and don't much car how many games they win to do it.

Another NL West crown would be nice but I'm looking at the bigger picture. I think the Giants have a very realistic chance of winning another one.

Some free advice: Don't bet your house on it.

Looks like the Dodgers bet the house on a broken collarbone.

SAN DIEGO -- The Dodgers' fury over Zack Greinke's broken left collarbone, ignited by Carlos Quentin charging the mound in the sixth inning Thursday night, overshadowed Juan Uribe's pinch-homer that gave Los Angeles a 3-2 win over the Padres.

Quentin is at full fault here. It was a 2-1 games...2 outs...3-2 pitch...NO WAY that was intentional. Quentin is the most hit player in the MLB...he leans into the plate and never moves on inside pitches. It is complete bullshit that he would charge the mound.

I agree completely. Quentin seemingly thought it was 'retaliation' for a pitch at Kemp's head earlier. I think Quentin wasn't looking at the big picture. I think he just completely lost it. At that moment he didn't care what the count was. The only thought on his mind was he was just used for target practice because of Kemp.

My question is, why did Greinke lead into Quentin with his shoulder when he charged the mound? Isn't that kinda asking for injury?

I don't know....Quentin is nearly 50 pounds heavier and running right at him. He should've pulled a Bugs Bunny and moved at the last second while sticking his leg out.

(to be read with a Jamaican accent) the base-eh-ball been vedy, VEDY good to them

In 1965, Juan Marichal fractured Dodger catcher John Roseboro's skull, bashing him over the head with a bat. I recall, at the age of 15, thinking that Marichal clearly deserved to be executed for purposely harming a key Dodger player.

Now I feel the same way about the profanity deleted Quentin. :Grrr:
