Wow... this is the first thread I've started in awhile. But I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with.

I'm a stickler for keeping my feet soft. I file, I use lotion, paraffin wax, pedicures... you name it. I like my feet touchable even if no one is touching them.

But I also enjoy wearing cute heeled sandals. But I find that soft feet don't tolerate them well. I get blisters very easily and they hurt far sooner because my poor tootsies can't handle them! I walk fine in heels... that's not the problem.

For example, I bought an awesome pair of heels a couple of weeks ago. Four inches high with just a taffeta strap over the top of my foot with little beads sewn onto it. I walked in them out to my car, from my car into the restaurant, back out to my car and into my house once I got home. Just a few minutes of walking and standing and I had a small blister on one foot!

Do any of you ladies have a solution for this?????

Try a bandaid

Seriously. My right heel is particularly susceptible to blisters from new shoes, pumps, tennis shoes, even sandle straps. I tried putting bandaids on the heel and that's okay but sometimes it slips around or comes off. Got a more lasting affect by putting the bandaid on the shoe at the spot where it irritated my foot. Lots of different bandaid sizes, clear ones too, plus you can cut as you need to so you get the padding you need and it doesn't show. If you try it on your new heels, described above, let me know how it worked for you.

oooh, padding on the shoe itself isn't something I'd thought of yet. I'm not talking insoles or anything... but on the straps... and you're right, BandAids are pretty versitile these days. This might work. Thank you... I'll let you know.

It really does suck that cool shoes tend to either damage your feet or hurt to wear.

I'd go with moleskin rather than Band-Aids. It's cushy and fuzzy and comes in sheets, so you cut it to the size that you need. It's intended to stick to your skin, so the shoe won't chafe against you. You should be able to stick the moleskin to the shoes instead, but if friction is the problem, it would only mean that something softer than the shoe material is rubbing against your skin.

Of course, my first choice is to wear only comfortable shoes. Ticklers seem to appreciate soft feet much more than they like crazy shoes. 🙂

Hehe! I hope I have both, cute shoes and soft feet. ^_^ I work hard at my soles to keep them soft but I have size 10's and really high arches so it's hard to find really nice shoes.

I think LindyHopper has it. I've heard of moleskin before. I think I'd just forgotton it existed until you reminded me!

The main areas I get blisters are where the hard edge of a strap rubs near my big or little toe and a little bit of cushion I think would alleviate that. For the most part I do wear comfy shoes and flip flops but sometimes a really stunning pair of heels is all that will do. :Kiss1:

Thanks for the advice!

Why not try a pair of these?

Cruel Shoes By Steve Martin

Anna knew she had to have some new shoes today, and Carlo had helped her try on every pair in the store. Carlo spoke wearily, "Well, that's every pair of shoes in the place."

"Oh, you must have one more pair ..."

"No, not one more pair...Well, we have the Cruel Shoes, but no one would want..."

Anna interrupted, "Oh yes, let me see the cruel shoes!"

Carlo looked incredulous. "No, Anna, you don't understand, you see, the cruel shoes are..."

"Get them!"

Carlo disappeared into the back room for a moment, then returned with an ordinary shoebox. He opened the lid and removed a hideous pair of black and white pumps. But these were not an ordinary pair of black and white pumps; both were left feet, one had a right angled turn with separate compartments that pointed the toes in impossible directions. The other shoe was six inches long and was curved inward like a rocking chair with a vise and razor blades to hold the foot in place. Carlo spoke hesitantly, "...Now you see why...they're not fit for humans..."

"Put them on me."

"But..."

"Put them on me!"

Carlo knew all arguments were useless. He knelt down before her and forced the feet into the shoes.

The sreams were incredible.

Anna crawled to the mirror and held her bloody feet up where she could see.

"I like them."

She paid Carlo and crawled out of the store into the street.

Later that day, Carlo was overheard saying to a new customer, "Well, that's every shoe in the place. Unless, of course, you'd like to try the Cruel Shoes."
