Suddenly this weekend, whenever I try to attach a pic, open the smilies window, enter the float chat room the window closed as soon as it loads. To my knowledge, I have not changed any pop-up window settings on AVG, Firefox, or Windows (XP).

Did some update to Firefox or Windows change something, or is this a leftover of the Big Crash and the recovery from it? Anyone have and answers, guesses or wild ideas?

Hopefully, it's just some glitch from the board-seizure. Try logging-out and back in again. I think that's what worked for me.

(Keep in mind that I'm THE last person you want to rely on for tech-support in the known galaxies...)

I would recommend that you log out, close and reopen the browser, clear the cache, and try again. If the problem persists, your Firefox may have become corrupted and should be uninstalled and the latest version (re)installed.

OK, it works for displaying PM's, but not the smilies or attachments pop-up. I'll try a reload of Firefox first and keep you posted by PM, Val. Thanks for the input.

didn't seem to do the trick, Val. Any other suggestions? I'm at a loss here...

Which version of Firefox are you using, Hawk? (A new version, 3.5, has just been released.) Also, have you checked that your firewall isn't blocking pop-up windows? If you have installed any Firefox add-ons recently, try disabling them to see if that helps.

Here is the official Firefox troubleshooting guide, which might be of help:

No problems at all here on Firefox 3.5. Do you have NoScript or AdBlock Plus by chance? They could be blocking relevant items. Have you tried opening Firefox in Safe Mode and trying? You can do this by going to the Firefox program folder in Start>All Programs and choosing to launch in Safe Mode with no extras running. If that works then most likely one of your extensions is causing the problem.

The pop-up for PMs and the pop-up for attachments are very different beasts. The PM pop-up is a Javascript alert message while the attachment pop-up is a new browser window. What stops one may or may not stop the other.

I assume here you have tried accessing the Theater using a different browser; (Use IE if you must; you certainly have that one) if it works there then you definitely have a browser issue. If it doesn't, you have an external security program stopping things.
