Good question...

I don't really watch Heroes, but I gather that her character discovered her invincibility during her teenage years. Perhaps she simply wasn't invincible before this time, and if she had her ears pierced as a young girl (which many do) it wouldn't have been an issue. When she gained her invincibility, the condition of her body at that point became the "reset standard" for healing. Rather like a vampire - if you're bitten (rather than born a vampire) you supposedly won't regenerate all your scars gained up to that point, you just won't gain any new ones. I don't know if this has been raised on the show or not as an issue yet, but she might not ever show any visible signs of ageing beyond her current appearance.

None of this has anything to do with tickling, of course. I just get a kick out of the pseudo-science behind such daft nonsense as superpowers 🙂
