It's Fat Albert.
I took my son to see Fat Albert today and I must say I really enjoyed the movie. Eventhough I heard it didn't get good reviews, I was a die hard fan of the cartoon in the 70's. When I think about it today, I realized that there were subliminal clues in creativity which I didn't realize when I would watch it as a teen. It was like, how many things can you create from pieces of junk.
Anyway, the movie was like a two hour episode of Fat Albert. It was about a high school girl who has no friends. While at home watching the cartoon one day after school, Fat Albert senses that someone needs help. So he jumps from the cartoon into the girls living room and offers to help her, just like he does in the cartoon. All the cartoon charactars then join him converting from the charactars to real life people. THe gang, as real people, walk the streets of Philadelphia, and, surprisingly fit in with everyone else. Albert befriends the troubled teen and at the end of the movie, gets her to believe in herself, hence, satisfying the mission. Also, while living in the life of real people, all the other members of the group have a positive experience, for example, Mushmouth learns how to talk right, and Dumb Donald becomes educated and realizes he has a face, consequently removing the silly looking hat hat that covers his face in the cartoon. Bill Cosby makes a cameo appearance at the end.
I had a smile on my face from beginning to end. If anyone was a fan of the cartoon, I think you will enjoy the movie.
