This whole Red Sox winning the World Series makes me think of a funny story. I dont know if anyone has or has heard of a book written in 1987 called "One Strike Away", which is the story of the 1986 Red Sox. In that book, there was a story of a couple who married in 1986, and ended their vows with:" Until Death Do Us Part, or until the Sox win the World Series" . In 1986, the couple was one strike away from perhaps having to confront those vows. If they are still married 18 years later, being life long Red Sox fans, my bet is that they are celebrating tonight instead of preparing to divorce tomorrow. This is truly a great thing for the Sox to break the 86 year curse, as a new generation of Red Sox history begins with this victory tonight. My bet is that the Red Sox will again win a championship long before the year 2090. Again, congratulations. The only thing that would have made me happier tonight is if the Braves had won the World Series themselves. It's been only 9 years since my team's last championship, and that seems like a long time. I cant imagine 86 years, or having some fans go through their whole lives without seeing their team win a championship. Tonight, Red Sox fans rejoice.
