History of April Fools Day

Where does April Fools day come from?Also whereever you're from does the April Fools tricks last all day or for only half a day?Coz I've grown up being told that if you play a prank after 12pm then you're the fool.Has anyone else heard of this or is this just a north west of England thing??I really dunno where the half a day thing came from seeing as I've heard that in the US it's a full day.Hmmm....

This bothered me too. I looked it up and aparently no one knows for sure. From Snopes.com, they say that it has something to do with when the world once ran by the Gregorian calender. It changed to the Julian calender on April 1st and so anyone trying to celebrate New Years were made fools of, becuase it was actually April.

Don't know if it's true or not, but it's as good an excuse as any!

Its true....its all to do with the new year and I think its related to the chinese new year but I could be wrong...half a day is also correct or traditional in the uk...probably because nobody can be bothered to carry on all day!!
