Horror Movies

About Vlad's question. I am a Mormon (non-partispating, but grew up with it). Yes, it's true that there's a restriction about watching R-rated movies. But you'll find out that a lot of mormons "bend" that rule just a little bit. 9.9

Yeah, I figured that, as one of the mormon guys at the shop watches r-rated movies.

Frankie Avalon?? Whoa...all the Beach Blanket movie residuals must have run out for him to do something like that. Just please tell me that Annette was not one of the victims....😉

No, she wasn't. I wish I could take credit for this, but while researching this movie on a user forum, someone said, "Venus if you will, send another little girl for me to kill."

I prefer supernatural-type villains and action which is more implied than shown, like in Stephen King's It. Leaving something to the viewer's imagination helps keep a film engaging.

Quoted for truth. I love supernatural and occult tinged films far more than slasher films and I'm also more of a fan of the concept of leaving something to the viewers imagination.

I watch mostly asian horror, as that is my typical preference. I'd also recommend asian cinema to those who liked the film Hostel. If you thought Quenten Tarentino made violent films, you should see Takashi Miike.

Let me guess, Fabian starred in the sequel, with cameos done by Gigit and Moon Doggie?

To my knowledge, they never made a sequel, and hopefully, they never will. Did I mention that Frankie's character had a psychic link with one of his victims because of a blood transfusion? And despite the psychic link, the psycho and his victim only met because of a weird coincidence. He was burying a victim in a public park, and she caught him.

Oh, and the reason it's called Blood Song is because Frankie was always playing Braham's Lullaby on a recorder. If you said anything about it, he killed you. THere's also the tag line, "It's the last song you'll ever hear."

I never saw Saw or Hostel, just 'cuz I'm a wus about stuff that 'could really happen,' or extreme cruelty, in movies. They scare the utter and complete shit out of me...😱

Also, I'm a devout Christian (Baptist, for the record) so a lot of those "demon" ones scare me too. I saw teh Poltriguist (sp?) when I was twelve...the thought of that girl standing in the gate of hell saying "He loves me, mommy..." still scares me 😱

My mother is as well, and she found Rosemary's Baby very disturbing. Speaking of good 'ol mom, I remember once when I was a teenager, watching something with a really tense mountain climbing scene in it. She had to leave the room. I guess people find horror in all kinds of things.

Are you saying that its because you're Christian that they scare you? Shouldn't it be the other way around and its BECAUSE you're a Christian that you shouldn't be afraid of them? Or, are you saying that they would scare you regardless? Or, are you saying that your religions teaches you to be wary to the point of being afraid?

Christians, especially Catholics, should be the least afraid of demons (despite the hollywood movies about priests fighting demons and violent posessions and this and that) as we are the most heavily armed as far as combating them, in the Christian religion.

I've always been taught that demons are cowards that prey on your fears and piggy-back on your tempations and weaknesses. They can only ever do something to you if you allow them in, in one way or another.

I'm not sure then if you're saying that you're afraid specifically OF demons, or the demons of Hollywood movies (which are 99.8% exagerated).

OK, clarifycation. I'm not scared of demons. Not real ones, anyway. The ones in movies are fun to be scared of, tho *XD*

I quite like supernatural horrors....but then again I like any kind of horror that scares me coz it takes a lot for me to get scared.I love Stephen King's Pet Cemetary (sp?)and IT.I thought Signs was also quite good and more recently The Forgotten. Basically something that doesn't have a really predictable ending.

Oooh I loved Signs. That movie was so awesome!! :super_hap

I always loved Stephen King books and film up until a point. They're usually brilliant to just about midway and then go right down. Actually come to think of it, it might be that a lot of horror films are like that, once you find out the why's how's and what's of the film, they jsut seem to build to a disappointing climax. Or it could eb just me.
