I've heard of SSC (Safe, Sane, Consensual) and also of RACK (Risk Aware Consensual Kink). In the latter, you know that things you are going to do are not 100% safe, just as skiing or sky diving are not, but you are aware of the risks and consent to them.

I tend to favor RACK as well, simply because some of what we do is inherently unsafe, and because people can't necessarily agree on what's safe and what isn't. In the end "safe" comes down to "within the risk tolerances of all involved," at which point you might as well just call it what it is: Risk-Aware Consensual Kink.
I didnt want to go into too much detail in this "thread", but rather to split some things up into chewable bites, and post some specific thoughts for the consideration of the forum over time.
Essentially, I view SSC (Safe-SaneConsentual) as the sort of base, ore lowest common denominator requisiste for good safe play; no matter what kind of fetish or playstyle folks are aiming at.
That notion will obviously have to be repeated from time to time anyway.
Rather, I'm thinking of some threads along the lines of "beyond SSC". The sort of things: standards, norms, expectations, structures, protocols, and etiquite; that can go far to embellish any adult-fetish play.
Hey, I'm not merely "old school", by now I'm just plain old (sigh). M and I were hosting (kinky) parties before many people had "intenet", and yes, in these last many years, fetish social norms and activity has accelerated by multiples, but the basic essentials of those norms do seem to have remained, and do seem to work pretty well. I fear tho' that a lot of people who come into the world of adult fetish behavior may do so so quickly that they may not take the time to become familiar with that which had always been there and has always worked pretty well (more on that in a subsequent thread).
My wife and I are hosting a tickly party in our house in a few weeks, and I wanted to post a bit on our thoughts of house safewords (but that will be in another thread).
But, beyond safewords and SSC play, I'd like to post bits on stuff like "components of a scene"; e.g.
Invitation/Acceptance (or Refusal or Postponement)
Negotiation/Agreement
Play/Post Play/Aftercare/Discussion
Logical-Practicable, Experience, Human and Humane, Observant-Watchful, Considerate and Concerned.
All this stuff won't fit in one note, nor in many, but it can't hurt to add stuff from time to time. I know many folks have been doing so even since TMF began. I just haven't spent too much time myself at bringing some of my more laborious and tedious thoughts over here. Geesh, sometimes I wish I could just type faster.
