”Happy birthday, my son!” Stoik shouted.
”What, what?!” Hiccup said and sat up in his bed. He looked around his house and found his friends standing around his bed.
”Its not everyday you turn 18. You realy gonna sleep that day away?” Stoik said. Then Hiccup remembered it was his birthday.
”Welcome to the adult club” Snotlout said and gave Hiccup a poorly wraped present. A buckly, unsharped sword.
”Thanks. So this is a ”buld it yourself” sword?” Hiccup said inspecting the sword.
”Hey, I built that myself, almost.” Snotlout said
”Almost?” Hiccup said confused.
”Well, I tried to modify a old sword, put some coolnes to it.” Snotlout said.
”Iv got you some stuff for your ”how to train your dragon” book. I have foud out how the skuldron dragon heats their water” Fishlegg said and gave Hiccup a bundle of paper
”Realy” Hiccup said exited. He had almost forgot about tha old book he was working on.
”Yeap, I also learned more about the Gronkles mating habbits”
”Oh, how did you...”
”Dont ask. Everything stands in thes papers. And for the records the one hwo discovered this died during the research” Fishlegg said.
”Ok... I think I will read this later.” Hiccup said and put away the papers.
”Well, our present is way cooler, you see I had this awesome idea that we should give you a present in two parts, one part each” Toughnut said.
”Your not supposed to tell him, you dumbass, now you spoiled the surprise! Beside, it was my idea!” Roughnut said and pushed her brother away.
”Hey, dont push me your fat...”
”Quit it you two!” Astrid said and banged their heads together.
The day went on and all the vikings in the village did congratulate Hiccup when he went by. Honestly he sometimes missed being a nobody, now adays everybody know him. Some days he could barely walk the streets without being stopped by some dragon question or smithery request.
The day went on. Hiccup started to wish hed stayed out on the ocean cliff, away from all the villagers. At leat he would meet with Astrid at the cliffs later that evening.
He met up with Astrid at the outside of the town, they walked down to the cliffs as they used to do. Up in the air, Toothless and Frostbite, Astrids Nadder, played tag in typical, rough dragon manners.
“So, you liked the suprise party?” Astrid asked
“Well, the party was nice, but the surprise part was, well, not so succeeded.” Hiccup answered.
“Who spoiled!?” Astrid said
“Well, you kinda shouted it in my face two weeks ago. Remember the tavern incident?”
“Oh yeah... Did I tell you about the surprise party then?”
Astrid was a hopeless drinker, she usualy ended up drunk after her first goblet but continued until she had to be carried home. She couldn't remember what she done afterwards either. Hiccup on the other hand was the unofficial drinkingmaster of berk. He could even keep up with his dad, who whas the official drinkingmaster of berk.
“It runs in the family, at least he can drink like a viking” Stoik used to say proud when he and Hiccup visited the tavern.
“Why didnt you tell me?” Astrid asked
“Well, I didn't wanna embarras you, and I thought I could get away acting surprised and you would never find out.” Hiccup said ashamed
“Well, can't say your a good actor. You should stay to dragon training.” Astrid said and put her arm on Hiccups shoulder
“Aint you curious what I got you for present?” she asked
“Oh, you don't have to give me anything, your company is good enough fore me.” Hiccup answered. Astrid smiled at him.
“Well, I havn't got anything for you now, but I think youl like it anyway” Astrid said and picked up a smal heartshaped rock from her pocket
“Oh, a stone. Thanks Astrid” Hiccup said confused.
“Its not just the stone, moron, Its have a symbolic value” Astrid said and laughed.
“Ok? So, this is some kind of metaphor or riddle?”Hiccup said and examined the tiny rock.
''Heres a hint. It give you the right to one wish from whoever gave it to you.” Astrid said and moved her head closer towards Hiccups.
“You may use it now, or save it for later” She said. Hiccup blushed.
“Well, I think Il save it for later. You know me, Il probably do something stupid in the future, always good to have a safecard.” Hiccup said. They both laughed. Astrid grabbed Hiccup by his jacket and they lay down in the fresh grass kissing each other. Suddenly two large lumps crashed down next to them, breaking the cliff. Summer might be near, but the water was still freezin.
If looks could kill, Frostbite would be screwed by now. Hiccup was glad he landed a bit away from Astrid. Toothless looked down at him from the broken cliff.
“Toothless, Bad dragon!”
