How Will The National League Playoff Picture Play Out?

My vote for this thread is that there will be a three team playoff needed, with two one game playoffs. I think that the Braves will have a sense of urgency tomorrow, and will win against Philly. I also think that the way the Padres have been playing, they will win as well. This would cause an NL West tie between the Giants and Padres, and a Wild Card tie between Atlanta and San Diego. I think it will take two one game playoffs to decide who will win the NL West, and who will win the Wild Card.

I should note that I accidently checked the wrong choice in my poll, sorry.

You are funny...you rant in one thread claiming you have no faith and then in the next thread you say the Braves will have a sense of urgency. You dont have an even keel unbiased opinion. Hard to take a guy who had the Braves winning the World Series after the All Star Game and then rants that he has no faith then says his team will play with urgency very seriously. Bi-Polar comes to mind...but that is just an opinion.

4u, last I checked, I wasnt bi polar.

Excuse me if I'm a bit emotional about a team I've rooted for since 1983, that blew a seven game division lead, and a two game Wild Card lead with three to play. I was upset when I wrote that earlier post.

Just think, if Atlanta loses tomorrow, and the Padres win, you get revenge on me for razzing you about the Metropolitans blowing the 7 game lead in 2007. The way my year has gone, chances are the Braves will go home tomorrow, but, I was polling with my gut, and not my head,

I look at it this way I like to see the Braves and San Diego win today. Then have San Diego beat the Giants then have the Braves beat the Giants this way all 3 teams have to use one of there ace's to win the one game playoff games then fly into the city of brotherly love for a Wednesday game with Halloday,Oswald and Hamels all nicely rested.
Hey it's not wrong to cheer again my Phils today for this to play out and heck I'll make up for it today by BOOing the shit out of McNabb 🙂.

Deuce actually has a good point. From the Phillies standpoint, they would like to see as many one game playoffs as possible, with the Braves, Padres, and Giants all going at each other for two days, for the Wild Card, and NL West, so that they all burn their best pitchers, and whoever plays Philly wont have their best pitcher available.

Not the best way for whoever plays the Phillies to start the NLDS, but hey, thats how baseball goes.

On any given day, even the 1962 Mets (the team with the most losses in a season in the 20th century) can win a game. So I make no predictions for today's games.

I voted what I want to happen: Padres and Braves both win today.

Yep cause if the San Diego and Atlanta both win then San Diego goes to San Fran for a Monday game to get a Divisional winner then the loser of that goes to Atlanta for the wild card winner. I myself don't want anything to do with San Fran cause they have good pitching and can match up best agains't the Phils.

Revenge? I don't do revenge. You see, I would like to think I have a little bit more class than that. If you think I have revenge on my mind, then you don't know me.

As far as being emotional, I don't believe that I ever acted like this in 2007 or 2008. There are more important things in life. And I have been a Mets fan since 1971. So as far as emotional is concerned, I'd rather attack things with perspective and logic. Maybe you should think about that. Flock and I have both told you enjoy the season. Don't declare your team World Champions in July. You set yourself up for ridicule then. And that is just plain dumb. That is where the Bi-Polar comment comes from. I don't know whether you are or not, all I know is that at times your statements swing like the weather.

Dude, I KNOW there are more important things in life. My mom has cancer, as you may know, so that is my primary concern. Right now this is a distraction from what has been a horrible seven months.

mils, I know that any team can beat any team on any given day. The pathetic 80s Braves used to beat the Mets at Shea when I went there.

I understand about you voting that you want the Braves and Padres both to win. Such would be the most interesting scenario for baseball, as it would create the three way tie. A tie for the Giants and Pads for the NL West, and a tie for the wild card.

In such a case, whatever team gets out of that whole mess, is going to be extremely tired come the opening of the NLDS, because their opponent will be well rested, and that team's pitching rotations will be shot.

I had no clue my name was Dude...thank you for clarifying that for me.

But again...you wrote a check about being World Champions...so is your team going to cash it or will that bounce?

So do you feel smart telling us the Braves are going to World Campions in JULY?

Let's say it will bounce, k. All I know is this, the Braves lived to play a Game 163 by the skin of their teeth, and now we will see if Game 163 will be a one game playoff between them and either the Pads or Giants, or Game 1 of an NLDS.

What a day! Whew!
